Arizona Cardinals to Unveil New Uni's on Thursday

i agree. I hope that they keep the actual Cardinal head but tweak the uniforms and maybe the helmet to coincide with being in Arizona now. Keeping the logo would keep the ties to being in Chicago and St. Louis but a totally new Jersey/Pant scheme would show that they have moved on to their own identity.

I'm completely ready to self-combust.

I have been patiently waiting for 33 FREAKIN' YEARS NOW for the Cardinals to make some significant changes to the logo and/or uniforms...and it looks like it's gonna happen. I was about 9 years old (in 1972) when I first started wishing for more Black in the uniforms, and have been praying for every year since 1974 for some other color than Gray facemasks. Of course, this means that they'll probably keep the Gray masks and go even more "old school", but I'm trying to be positive.

My birthday's Saturday...I'm hoping that this will be a good birthday present...

This is a team that can add black to the uniforms and color scheme without being accused of doing it to be trendy. The history is there of black, even if it's just outlines and stripes.

The Jets and the Colts can keep their monochrome monopoly.

Wow...I'm very excited, but a little worried...

They better just update that bird a little, because that is one of the great logos in all of sports.

The jerseys and pants are fair game, but I don't wanna see something that will be outdated in 7-8 years.

The helmet I'd prefer to see left plain white, but only if it fits the scheme. As for the facemask, it should be red (or maybe black). The only reason to leave it grey is if they add grey/silver to the scheme.

I can say that New Mexico and Albuquerque in particular is excited for the New Arizona Cardinals. The uniforms will NOT look like any other teams, so that is a high point for us. Also the logo and changes will reflect the betterment of this team, not worsen or cheapen the look. that is all for now.

If New Mexico and Albuquerque are so excited for these changes, I would have to guess that the Cards are adopting a stately Southwestern design. Maybe like the Coyotes tried to do. I just found it odd that of all the locations possible, New Mexicans were really excited about it.

Hmmm... "... New Mexico and Albuquerque in particular is excited for the New Arizona Cardinals." Now what sports franchise/program in Albuquerque, New Mexico has a team color palette that approaches that of the Arizona Cardinals?

Might the Cardinals soon be sporting Metallic Silver helmets with Red facemasks, a la the University of New Mexico Lobos? A monochromatic combo of Red jerseys and Red pants at home, a la the University of New Mexico Lobos? White jerseys and Silver pants on the road, a la the University of New Mexico Lobos?

The Cardinals are apparently working on getting some pre-season games in New Mexico and/or El Paso, Texas. They're trying to expand their fanbase. They have already been working on Las Vegas - with limited success - and are now going east a bit.

Hey i just saw something. Might just be how it was stitched onto the hat but did anyone look at this year's Second Season Hat??

if you look at the Cardinal Head you can see at the back black wavy-ish lines denoting feather lines or something. Could that be the minor change to the logo?

Now the only reason i doubt this is because one can look at last year's Second Season/Sharktooth Hat:

Me i love the Sharktooth design and definitely have a Patriots one...which ironically i bought in Arizona. But just something i noticed while looking at possible Cardinal things to buy before everything changes lol

I thought that too originally but the other season hat doesn't have that effect and the logo is supposed to be the exact same. They are on my two season hats from both years.

i can't wait for 2 reasons... i've always sorta liked the cards, and loved their generic red home jerseys...... if they upgrade those, i'll be able to get an older emmitt jersey for dirt cheap (i bet the price drops further than it already has)

but i would like to see how they update this. if they do it well, like seattle did, then the cards could look pretty damn sharp.

OK, well I haven't got the time to read all 6 pages so forgive me if my sentiment has already been said, but I am certain of the following about the Cardinals uni changes:

-They will have black shoes

-They will have significantly more black in the uniform

-At some point in the next 2 years they will wear a black alternate jersey (if the new home jersey isn't black-*shudder*)

If I am wrong about any of these you guys can uh....call me a queer.

I would like to just add that this news upsets me greatly, as did the news of the Lions and Bengals the past seasons....the Cardinals had one of the last great old school traditional uniforms in the league, and they were beautiful in their simplicity. Here's hoping they just don't go to another Falcons-esque look, with the piping opening into wider stripes on the pants....I HATE THAT.

for some reason, i'm picturing a uniform like this:

take the patriots silver helmet/blue jersey/blue pants combo as a starting point.

change the logos to the new cards one... replace all the navy blue with red. replace all the pats red with black... leave silver where it is.

i think that would look pretty damn sweet, even though it's untraditional... i usually love tradition, but i think the cards are a place where moving forward might be the best thing to do, as long as they keep the same general feeling about the logo.

I love the Cardinals helmet. However, I would be up for the rest of the uniform to be updated. More black, or yellow, or better yet, use the old "champagne" color from the USFL's Michigan Panthers with the red and black.
