NHL Season GONE

This sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with tank, on how the NHL needed to promote itself. Although I disagree and think the NHL on Fox was a good thing. While the puck was stupid FOX did promote the game and promote when the games were on. If you look at the ratings the ratings for Fox were much higher than on ABC. ABC just put the games with no promotion. Bettman should have done everything he could to put more games on and promote the game more. The big problem was him, when he came into power he changed things (division names) that upset and drove away real hockey fans and didn't bring in new fans. He is the problem, he is the only commssioner that gets booed when presenting the Championship trophy to the home team.

And I don't want to hear that this is good for the game in the long run because it isn't. Cancelling the entire season will drive away all fans (even worse than in baseball after 94). So even if a salary cap is put in place it won't matter. Teams will still lose money because no one will be showing up. It's bad very bad.

Oh and BS, Shut the F*** up!!! No one want s to hear what you have to say.

The fact that BS does not care proves a point that the NHL just does not matter much to Americans. Polls have shown that most Americans don't care about the NHL and the lockout.

Also, I have posted in threads in which I have said I don't care much for the subject, and I don't hear much anger towards me about it. Not caring for a particular subject is, to the core, an opinion just like any other.

.... and that's my opinion.... :D

I saw, I came, I left.

Finally, someone who knows what I'm talking about. 229031_clap.GIF I just don't see what the problem is when it comes to expressing my opinion fellas.......especially when it doesn't involve anyone here!

Tank, tell us how you REAAALLY feel bud! :D

bs - you do know that hockey is the #1 sport for the majority on CCSLC, right? Well, it was back in the summer when I joined up. Anyway, why risk ticking off the majority over somthing you know nothing about?

There are more Canadians on this board than you can shake a stick at....and I respect them all because

I

LOVE

HOCKEY!

Ugh... bs it's the fact that we hear so much about this topic, and those interested in hockey are the ones who deserve to express their point more than you. If you don't care then leave it at that, hockey fans don't like how it's going right now, and we don't need someone glad that there's no hockey.

So let me ask you straight up guys and please save me the B.S. I really don't have the right to express my opinion about hockey or anything else I might not like, even if it doesn't directly or indirectly harm anyone here? I know that hockey is a huge passion in Canada but let's face it, there's always going to be someone who doesn't like what you like and as long as I'm not disrespecting you as an individual then how is that wrong?

Like I said, please save me the B.S.

It's the fact that you won't shut up about it. We got it the first time. You don't have to reply to every post saying "Hey, I still don't care! Yay!"

Well thats why ESPN needs a rival because they are starting to suck more and more all the time.

The rival would be Fox Sports Net, right?

Fox Sports Net isn't a true national competitor because it exists to be carried on an as-needed basis on regional sports outlets. If, say, FSN Pittsburgh is carrying a Pirates or Penguins game, whatever might be on the national FSN doesn't get shown in Pittsburgh. It's not its own channel.

But ESPN cannot be excused for its role in all of this -- letting hockey fade away by putting fewer games on ESPN, then fewer games altogether with all of them on ESPN2 (thanks to their fawning over all things NBA) along with the elimination of NHL 2Night and NHL Cool Shots.

The whole thing is a textbook example of being drowned by exorbidence on all sides. The league wasn't going to generate its desired revenue through ticket sales and national TV rights fees so they did the only thing they could to get that kind of money -- expand to any biscuits-n-grits city that was willing to cough up the inflated expansion fees.

That led to giving the star hockey players contracts equivalent to star basketball and baseball players even though the financial template wasn't going to support that in the long run. I can't blame the players in not wanting to give up what they already have, but that's as far as I can go in support of labor in this one.

Hey ESPN

Gambling is not a sport it?s a game its something you do on a weekend trip to Vegas its not something you show on TV.

Unless you are playing poker it?s boring.

But no because some how it became popular to watch lets have repeats of World Series of Poker showing instead of the World Cup of hockey

Poker may not be a sport, but ESPN has every right show it. ESPN does stand for Entertainment and Sports Programming Network.

besides... guess what gets better ratings... poker, or hockey. I haven't seen the numbers, but I'd assume it's poker. And poker ratings went up by like, 40% this year and they'll continue to grow.

Okay, thank you for your feedback. So with all of that said I'll just shut up now and let the rest of you continue with your discussion. Good day!

That's the problem, even though I defended the context of what BS said. Just saying it once is enough for us don't beat it like a dead horse

You go out of your way to enter a thread about something you don't care about, to tell everyone you don't care about it. Repeatedly. What is your point?

:therock:

Is there a rule that says I can only post in threads where I'm only praising the topic at hand? The fact is I have my opinions and you have yours. We're not always going to have something extremely positive to say about the topic at hand and if my opinion is that I don't like hockey then just read it and move on. Are you looking to start a fight?

nope....but apparently you are, you dumbass.

we all know that you kneel before karl malone, the utah jazz, and hate hockey. great. if you don't like the nhl, stay out of threads that have to do with the nhl.

Are you kidding? That's great news! Now I won't have to deal ANY ridiculous hockey highlights on ESPN until next fall! Cheers! 229031_cheers.GIF

Not unless the owners get off their snide about a salary cap, or the players get off their snide about money.

Until one side concedes to the other - you can stick a fork in the NHL - they're done, and the players will find other places to play.

And I think this will also change the Area District in downtown Columbus because of it. The Blue Jackets brought in a lot of people to Nationwide Arena, and since the lockout, the nearby businesses have suffered as the area has become a ghost town during what is normally a hockey season.

The Destroyers games will help some, but I don't think it will be enough to save many of the businesses there as I think many of them depend on the commerce generated by the BJ's games.
