puckcool22
At the bottom of this article it mentions: To aid the impression that hockey is a fast, edgy game, NHL uniform supplier Reebok plans to outfit players in flashier, sleeker and more formfitting uniforms next season."do you think this could be like underarmor for hockey or what? Discrim
they don't need no formfitting crap. I don't own any soccer jerseys for the same reason.
jamesjduncan
How do you form fit a hockey jersey? I mean, with the padding and such, it seems impossible.

Chazberg
Sounds pretty gay to me, football players just do it so they can't get held. Hockey jerseys are supposed to be baggy. I'm scared.

I'm scared. don't worry. it'll only last for about 1-2 seasons, before the league has to fold.they already have an awfully awfully small fan base. the changes they've been mentioning aren't going to add to that fan base, just make the diehards feel rejected and upset. tmorss9
I'll completely agree with Cole. This league is doing a wonderful job of losing fans, and not getting any new ones to replace them. I thought I was a diehard hockey fan, but after this winter I'm realizing there are other options out there for my entertainment. I honestly don't know If I'll ever go to another NHL game. As far as "flashier, sleeker and more formfitting uniforms next season" thats just another of the leagues marvellous ways to put a band-aid on a problem that is better solved with a tourniquet. Gordie
"formfitting" isn't going to fly with the players.A lot of them already cut the insides of their pant legs and the cuffs of their gloves for more freedom of movement.
yh
The only thing I can think of that might make practical sense is a tapering of the sweaters in the trunk area where there traditionally aren't any pads. It would be a slight change but perhaps enough to give the illusion of a sleeker torso.
stimpy
I knew it, when Reebook first annonced it was doing hockey jerseys for the NHL I told everybody that Reebok was going to ruin hockey. That is the dumbest idea I ever heard. I am a hockey traditionalist, there are so many compinies that just make hockey stuff, why can't they continue making the hockey jerseys. Like Koho and CCM that have been making hockey jerseys for years. You think form fitting uniforms will help jersey sales? This is a dumb idea, screw Reebok. The only thing that will help jersey sales are cheaper jerseys. Most jerseys are from $120-$200+ unlike NFL and NBA they don't make jerseys that don't have patches that can sell for cheap. But formfitting jerseys suck.

But formfitting jerseys suck. Reebok owns The Hockey Company otherwise known as CCM. Reebok itself won't be making the jerseys or anything, CCM will continue to manufacture the uniforms (which they probably never did anyway, they probably had them made overseas like eveyrone else and they slap their logo on them) Reebok will have their logo put on them, but CCM will still be doing all the work. The replica creation for Reebok wouldn't even allow embroadered goods in large quanities, therefore those will still be made in canada. And as always for any sport, a majority of that work will be done overseas anyway.

CCM's website has a forum where they have regular equipment discussions. Some sticks are made, or partly made, in Finland, but most of their stuff is manufactured in the Great White North.I doubt Reebok can make any changes to NHL uniforms without league approval, so there's little chance that they can single-handedly ruin hockey. pcgd
Well, the overseas comment was assumed because NFL, NBA, MLB blanks are produced overseas. I just assumed that NHL was the same. But, I do know that CCM still produces the NHL jerseys and such, just the Reebok logo will be placed on them instead of the CCM one. Hell, from what I've heard, the NFL on field jerseys are made in Canada, while all the Authentics are made all over the place.
stimpy
I just checked my authentic Koho, and CCM jersey (Both made the NHL jerseys last year) and they were both made in canada.
Chazberg
Me and my friend were talking about this today after I brought it up to him, and we both arrived at something: There's no way to make the jerseys very tight, especially when you consider the pants that they have to go over. So unless they are planning on making more streamlined pants, which is really impossible because of the amount of padding necessary, then there's no way the jerseys can be tighter, like the NFL. So my guess like others are saying is fabrics and maybe different seems etc. to give it a sleeker look, like they did to the classic CCM helmet design. Anemic_Royaltea
skeptical about that article, since yahoo news will publish anything and it starts with the sentence...
