nym1231 Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 As reported by ESPN...."Two league sources told ESPN Insider Chad Ford that New York has traded Nazr Mohammed and Jamison Brewer to the Spurs for Malik Rose and a first-round pick. The Knicks also traded Vin Baker and Moochie Norris to the Rockets for Maurice Taylor and a first-round pick, Ford reports."What do you think about this deal for the Knicks?I think it definately adds depth to the team. And on the pessimistic side, which New York fans have to do quite often, they get two first-round picks out of it!
HappyBrownie13 Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 too many undersized PFs on this team (Rose, Taylor, Sweetney, JYD), and there's just something about this overall roster i really dont like. I really think it's silly to try and build a team around Stephon Marbury, who's appeared in 1, maybe 2 playoff series' in his 9 year career. when you're replacing an old Carr, you need more than Les Miles
Starchild Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 I hate this team. I hate this roster. I hate this GM. I was blinded by the hype, and I'll never make that mistake again. Isiah Thomas is an awful GM. True, he has talent when picking out from the draft, but when it comes to assembling a basketball team, he's a moron.I think it definately adds depth to the team. Sure, it adds depth. To f'n San Antonio's roster. We just gave them cap relief, a solid backup center who's actually better than their current starting center, and another solid defensive guard on already the best defensive team in the league. We do get picks out of the deal, but they're not make or break picks. We're further under the cap now. What's the logic in trading guys like Nazr, Brewer, Baker and Moochie? Three of them have contracts that are tradeable this offseason to go along with Tim Thomas and Penny Hardaway. Now we get Maurice Taylor who serves no purpose, and Malik Rose - another undersized center like Kurt Thomas, with a bloated contract and is actually less talented that Kurt Thomas. We just gave up further future flexibility (if I can even call it that) and have dug ourselves into an even deeper hole. The only way I can even think to rationalize this is to make the team in fact, worse, in the hopes of moving higher in the draft to grab Andrew Bogut.I didn't want to have it come to this, but... While I don't think Starchild would like this one -- the one that seems to work, given cap situations would be --New York Recieves: SG Latrell SprewellPG Sam CassellOutlook: -0.6 ppg, -2.0 rpg, and -0.9 apgMinnesota receives: PG Stephon MarburyPF Malik RoseOutlook: +0.6 ppg, +2.0 rpg, and +0.9 apgI wouldn't do it if I was the Knicks. But I'd sure as hell accept if I was the T-Wolves.
waggie Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 yeah that would work. Sprewell should have never left NY, Marbury should have never left MN. @josh_j12 CFA- Fargo Bobcats

Starchild Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Pick anyone you want minus Ariza, Jerome Williams and Sweetney. This team is awful, and noone wants to/deserves to be a Knick but those three. I'll take Spree back for just about anyone... especially the Diva himself. Hell, take Isiah and Dolan while you're at it.
