I bought the game this weekend. If you have last year's version it's almost identical, though there's some nice additions.

They've added single A teams this year, which is cool. They seem to have cleaned up the minor league uniforms, too. They've even got those odd-looking asymmetrical hats to be worn by the Fresno Grizzlies.

There's also some cool mini-games, like one that requires you to hit the ball to certain parts of the field.

The only drawback was the roster updates. There's been a lot of changes since EA Sports finalized its rosters in mid-January. I spent a while changing things around so Sosa was on the O's, Mientkiewicz on the Mets, Delgado on the Marlins, and several others.

But the gameplay has improved. The CPU PItchers are better. Lefty's can slug homeruns just as easily as righties. It's not as easy now for a user controlled pitcher to hit the exact spot every time now, but it's also not terribly tough.

A new Owner mode function is kind of odd. You don't focus much on the team as much as you do raising money for your stadium. You start out with, essentially, a very minor league park for your major league team and add to it as you make money. And to make money, it likely means selling off good players. Kind of annoying, though I haven't spent a lot of time on it.

Anyway, that's my little review. Take it for what it is.

The addition of single A might be reason enough for me to upgrade from 2004 -- and the fact that this is probably the last mvp for a while

Exactly. Those reasons, along with the addition of the Nationals, were the sole reasons I upgraded. Plus, it's just $29.99. Still $10 more than the 2K5 baseball game, but that one doesn't have the minors.

I have a feeling the $29.99 price tag will be stopped at the border

they'll still have to compete with the espn 2k5 game which is $19.99

i like that they've added a spring training mode so i can make my own team of super yankees to go undefeated and take the title from red sox nation and bring it back to the b-r-o-n-x.

hold on there, it's just yanks-sox banter...it aint banworthy

anyways, gettin back to the game, I can't wait...MLB 2006 comin out soon. I can create myself and try my hand at pitching my way thru the Brewers system in career mode...or use the same mode to follow my boy Jason Jaramillo (Phils) in his virtual attempt to succeed where his brothers failed and get to the majors...or switch over to franchise mode, run the Cubbies and get some butts in the seats. now all I gotta do is get a new ps2 to replace the old one ;)

oh, i see now...meselfs, I switch between speed stick, degree and right guard. degree's okay, speed stick's pretty good, and right guard's half decent.

I'm a Speed Stick:HE guy myself.

in the owner/dynasty mode is it 120 years like in MVP 2004?

they have most definately cleaned up the minor league uniforms. last year had the rivercats home uni spot on, but they just took that and made it grey for the road uniform, this year they have the reaql road jerseys, which in truth, look a lot like the Astros roadies
