Jaybird
Although I like the Braves' tomahawk logo, I really wish that the Braves would bring back the logo of the Brave with the single feather and the mohawk. Why was it dropped? Was this some of Ted Turner's mess?As a compromise, they could bring back the logo of the Indian (Native American) in full headress that the Boston and Milwaukee Braves used on their jerseys.ATLANTA, BRING BACK THE BRAVE! quantum
Well, I think you already know the reason. It would be one thing to defend the continued use of the brave logo, but to try and bring it back in a PC world would be a tough sell.
philly97flyer
Its really a shame about all this PC crap. That was one of the best logos in sports. I use it for my wiffle ball team, the Savages, right now.
jkrdevil
Yea, pc probably had some involvement in it being dropped but Cheif Knockahomer sucked anyway. Their current set is far better than mohawk set. He had a good name but not a great logo.
Pat
I think the Brave head sucked hard. Myabe if it was updated.....But their current logo set is real nice, I see no reason

JamesCraven
It was dropped due to the sensativity of Native Americans for the record.

Jaybird
I agree they should bring it back I agree to.However, could they bring back the old Boston/Milwaukee Braves full headress logo that the Braves used in the 1948 series and in the Braves' first few seasons in Milwaukee? It would be more dignified.

FiddySicks
I agree they should bring it back if they brought it back, i think people would get it confused with the Cleveland Indians Cheif Wahoo too much, especially if it was put on a hat
Moser316
There's no need to bring it back. The tomahawk is a strong enough identity that is respectful enough to the Native American peoples, plus it has its roots in the old design used by the Boston/Milwaukee Braves from 1946-62... Magus
it was dropped because the communist PC Mobs terrorized the organization in to dropping the logo. much like they do with all the other teams with native american logos. i personally don't care if it offends native indians. i know the history of the native indians and its not the rosy red image the communist PC mob has brainwashed everyone in to believing. i personally don't care for the logo on an aesthetic level. its a bit silly to look at it. the tomahawk logo is much easier on the eyes and much more simpler. plus i associate the logo with those dreaded baby blues. At least if anyone asked the question "What would Joe McCarthy think of the logo" we now have some insight.I agree that there are times when we are too "PC" for our own good. But there is a difference between being "PC" and just being respectful. For example, is "African American" PC? Maybe. I tend to say "black". But avoiding the term "n****r" is not "PC" its being respectful.Personally, I would scrap the whole bunch of these logos and nicknames. I don't particularly like the Redskins's logo (though it is not as bad as say, the Cleveland Indians logo), but the name "Redskins" is pretty bad. Almost as bad as "Savages"My personal favorite is Pekin, IL, whose high school was called the "chinks" until the mid-1980's. Some "PC" people found it offensive and worked to have it changed. I would agree with that change and if that makes me a communist than...Hey, there's my hammer. Now where did I put my sickle?

winghaz
To me, the old Braves logo looks a whole lot more dignified than the Indians' Chief Wahoo logo. That said, though, I do like the tomahawk look, although I'd like to see that A with the tomahawk in it used a lot more. winghaz
RickV, I think it always was a dark navy blue (until Atlanta used royal blue in the '70s and '80s). I may be wrong, though. I am color-blind and sometimes can't tell the difference between dark navy blue and black.
