omnivore
So, the whole Viperball thread got me thinking about this. What's in a name? So often, we look at team names - especially of recent expansion - franchises and we're just thinking that the name sucks and of course, if the logo fails to inspire..that's an issue too.So, I was thinking about Viperball and the idea came to mind - what types of names would be better than others. I'm a traditionalist and intend to work hard with other league owners to make sure that team names aren't stupid - Green Bay Gopherrzz - or something ridiculous like Devil Rays. But I wasn't sure. Since the sport itself has an animal name in it, I thought that made it an even more unique problem than other sports faced. Because I respect the opinions on here, I'd love to get some feedback on this one. What's wrong with Devil Rays? I don't speak for democrats, democrats don't speak for me.

What's wrong with Devil Rays? I dunno. Maybe it's their uniforms. Of course, I like Mighty Ducks and hate Devil Rays. So what does that tell you?Perhaps that's why I'm looking for other opinions in the first place. See Red
Well, clearly, there are some that are better than others. For instance, names like the Phoenix Killer Penguinzz and Wyoming Marinerzz are clearly better than some of the other names you'll see. Great logos really help to sell even a crappy name, too -- while the aforementioned teams don't need great logos to sell the names, the fantasticly rendered logos are a bonus. I think Lamicus would agree.
