Okay. After reading responses I have received about the current fantasy league I am in, I called a couple of my buddies who are interested in seeing what you guys can come up with.

So, our first challenge is to give New York a nickname. Right now we are discussing the Emperors. Please respond with your ideas.

Thank you.

Okay, I like the Aristocrats. What would you recommend for a logo?

I'd either go the "Rich Uncle Pennybags" from Monopoly route or perhaps something involving a football, a top hat and a monocle.

This is from Frank Rich's column in Sunday's New York Times:

"A talent agent is sitting in his office," he began. "A family walks in - a man, woman, two kids, and their little dog. And the talent agent goes, 'What kind of an act do you do?' " What followed was a marathon description of a vaudeville routine featuring incest, bestiality and almost every conceivable bodily function. The agent asks the couple the name of their unusual act, and their answer is the punch line: "The Aristocrats."

Maybe you can build a theme from that. :D

if you are gonna do the joke, you have to tell the correct extended version.

I think that "Black Panthers"is a good name, simply because of the history of the Panthers in NY

Actually, the Black Panthers were founded in Oakland, California and never enjoyed the sort of organizational leadership presence in New York City that they did in the Northern California community.

Further, a group of breakaway Nation of Islam members founded the New Black Panthers in New York City. This organization was instrumental in stirring up controversy following the September 11th attacks and has been roundly disavowed by the former leaders of the original Black Panther movement.

As a result, the Black Panthers identity really doesn't make a great deal of sense for a New York-based franchise. Besides which, it probably isn't the wisest choice for something as frivolous as a sports franchise. Original members of the Black Panthers would believe that it demeans the serious sociopolitical impact they were trying to have on the America of the 1960s and 1970s, while many people would think that adopting the name of an overtly revolutionary political movement was inappropriate.
