CSA looking for new logo

Recommended Posts

Long time viewer, 1st time post. So this Will be ugly. But here it goes.

Found this on the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) site, and thought this would be a good challenge. I'm still going to enter the contest even though I'm not Canadian. I thought I would let you guys know about it. Have fun.

:flagcanada: Ottawa, Ontario ? As the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) nears its 100th anniversary, it is embarking on some of the most exciting projects in its history. Some of the current activities and projects include:

Having been awarded the hosting rights for the FIFA World Youth Championship Canada 2007

Continued growth in membership, this year, reaching over 825,000 registered participants

A mini-soccer program nearing 500,000 attendees, with success solely driven by the local volunteers within clubs across the country

Elite Provincial team programs that continue to supply talent to the improving National team programs

New infrastructure projects, including the construction of a new stadium at York University, as well as several other potential associated projects currently under review

As part of our future planning, we have taken the initiative to try and capture some of the energy and enthusiasm that surrounds Canadian soccer through a search to find a new, updated CSA logo. While all would agree that it is important to connect to the past and maintain equity in the current design, it is time to look forward as well.

With this direction in mind, the CSA formally invites the Canadian soccer community to participate in the process of generating a new look for 2006 and beyond.

What? They don't want us no-good Americans taking their jobs? Their non-paying, cop-out jobs?

Weak sauce.

Despite those American rants, I think a new Canadian Soccer Association logo is long, long overdue. Their current logo is outdated and I have been waiting for years for them to change it. I just hope they don't do what Australia did and call it "fooball". <_<

One thing I would like to us from the current logo is a partial maple leaf outline. Maybe they can try to emulate the Hockey Canada logo.

Changing the CSA logo?! How could they?! Seriously though, aside from the CANADA text, I think it's a pretty solid-looking logo to have for the national team.

Even though, I'm not Canadian, and sort of-kind of like the logo they currently have, I thought I'd try my hand at a logo anyway.

That bottom bit is meant to be a soccer ball with maple leaf panels, but as I have the artistic ability of a retarded yak, it might be hard to tell.

It's a nice logo, but I don't think it should say CSA, it really should have CANADA on it. It's also not the best marketing strategy because it may cause confusion with this:

Also, I'm not a fan of of maple leaves on the soccer ball
