Philadelphia River Sox (work in progress)

Hey gang. Since both the American Baseball Association's Detroit Spirit and Atlanta Nighthawks have put their concepts here, I decided to do the same and get some feedback before I complete work on it. I'm still working on these, but I figured I'd throw the sheep to the wolves and see how badly it gets mauled. I'm always nervous at making public my concepts, especially since you guys are better artists than me. But anyway, here goes:

Any sort of C&C is welcome. And no, I'm not changing the colors. :P

Well, if I don't get any sort of "that really sucks" or "you should really change this" as feedback, then this'll be the final cut -- I haven't decided whether or not to do the backs for each one yet.

Incidentally, I'm sure you can tell that not only does the script "P" seems to be Nationals-esque in its personality versus the rest of the package, but that the Alternate hat is based loosely on the Phillies hats from the 1940s.

The BP hat is actually a pinwheel design -- dark blue in the front and the back, and light blue on either of the side panels, with white pipping between the different colored panels. I modeled it after the Myrtle Beach Pelicans alternate hat, which as you can see, I'm kind of partial to:

By the way, thank you, Hat. :-)

Heh. I actually have only been to one game, on my birthday in August. We were down there on vacation, and we took in a game, and that's when I bought the hat. Only problem is, they're a Braves farm team. And I hate the Braves. So when the announcer said... "okay, let's see the Tomahawk Chop!!", we all cringed. But yeah, I had a good time.

I think that'll be the sticking point to a lot of people - that bright cyan/blue. The only thing is that I didn't want to use a baby blue because I don't like using the same color combos for different teams, and I'm going to use a "bluer" blue on another one of my teams. I think I'll change that for next year, maybe.

I'll at that to the bottom once you make it, can't wait.

Incidentally, let me know when you come up with a WA2 one so I can add that to my W.i.P. for the Tritons.

And I'm glad that you think that something I did is "quality". ^_^

hate the sock- sky blue too bright. try a darker blue

Same here. Try a variation of baby/powder blue, because that neon blue isn't really working in my opinion. But that's the only detractor from an otherwise solid concept. Nice work, cant wait to see it when the work in progress becomes completed work. :D

Your wordmark font, sleeve-patch font, and number font appear to be similiar (if not the same), but the had "P" doesn't tie in anywhere. Kind of like what the Nationals got going on now. I think it could be better with a little more consistancy.

There's a purpose to that. I didn't like the Copperplate font on the hat. Plus, that might be the font for "Philadelphia" in my wordmark, but even if it isn't, it's supposed to be an homage to the Phillies hats of the 40s. Not only that, but I don't like the sock enough to try it on the regular hat.

Fair enough. I like consistency throughout a package, but I get where you are coming from.

Whoa. Someone likes the Cyan. I think what I might do (since I've already started work on it) is make another thread (not right away, mind you) with the light blue instead of the cyan and see what sort of comparison I get.

I don't know how much I want to cut back on the white -- I think I need some sort of border. Maybe on the BP jersey.
