To tell you the truth if Bonds did retire now i wouldnt blame him. not because of the whole steriods bullplop, but because this thing is getting way out of hand and who the hell else would take as much as he has. you all need to remember that everyone is innocent untill proven guilty and untill the day he tests positive ill stand behind him 100% no matter how much i get burned. I understand where you are coming from bucsfan, but Barry has admitted under oath that he used steriods. Granted, he says he was unaware they were steriods, but he still said you used substances now identified as steriods.

However, like I said, I understand where you are coming from because I feel the same way about Mark McGwire. I believe Mark, and he has denied using steroids. I think the testimony last week was a lawyers strategy gone bad, not a coverup of his usuage.

If you see inconsistancies there and wanna call me out on being a homer, all I can say is your probably right. (Note: Admission to being a homer is not admission to being wrong.)

I think it's because he keeps doing dumb stunts like today's. I mean, as long as he keeps talking to the media, they're gonna talk to him.

Giambi has done more to admit and express sorrow.

Giambi has a better relationship with the media than Bonds has ever had.

Giambi, while putting up big stats, has not broken/is not chasing historic records.

Listen. For one.....I'm not a baseball fan. at all anymore. My fandom died somewhere around 1992 when I no longer played strikeout in the backyard and the Brewers kicked Molly to the curb.

Secondly, I was merely speculating that there could be some cloak and dagger negotiations going on. I have no stake in this, don't care one way or another......but I sure can see it happening.

Someone sends a message to him saying, "look, we can't have you going after the record. It makes us look bad. Retire now, admit nothing, and you'll enter the Hall #3 all-time.... pending you legal results."

Now, as for why people beat on Bonds........ummm, it's cause he's a jerk. He asks for it. Poor baby. At least he's an awesome player. People rip on Ryan Leaf mercilessly and he can't even rest on his laurels and statistics.

And, to further clear up that I am not a "hater". I don't think roids should be illegal. The way I figure it......they are a calculable risk that people take to enhance their careers. Just like breast implants. Only breast implants MAY hurt you and roids definitely WILL hurt you. If they take roids, they will rule the field and eventually be crippled or dead. Thats their choice, not mine. IF there were a pill or cream to make people smarter or an investing genius or a handsome Hollywood superstar......they would absolutely take it. ANd that would be on them. If someone is dumb enough to risk serious health concerns or death to hit a few homers.........best of luck. It's not like you'll be able to hide it later.

I thought we as a nation learned this lesson already with Gastineau and Alzado. Guess not.

You tell me Bonds having his surgery on the day of the Congressional Hearing wasn't just so convenient.

Looking at Bonds today I think it's time he come clean. IF he leaves now on those crutches it looks like he is running. If he continues to say he didn't use steroids the pressure will only build. HOwever if he came clean appologized and tried to play clean I think fans will be more apt to forgive him. You know GIant fans will probally support him no matter what and if he came clean in a sincere way he way win over some critics.

This is real easy guys. Bonds is a dick. He is a world-class, in and out, every day jerk. If he tests clean tomorrow, hes still a jerk. If they find a way to scoop spit out of the dirt at Pac Bell, and test him in the past for every day he has swung a bat, and they are all negative for steriods, he is still a jerk.

ok now this isnt true. im into body building and when i look at pictures of me from just three years ago and now, im astonished at the size and muscle mass ive gained. it has been 18 years since his rookie year and about 10 since he was skinny. so if weight training is done the gight way, you can put on an unbelieveable amount of muscle mass in a relatively short amount of time with no steriods let alone supplemental enhancements

Bonds is just a big hemorrhoid in baseball right now. All the problems he bitches about were created by his attitude, not the other way around. We almost got to see the human side of Bonds when his father passed away, but it wasn't long after he returned to the lineup that his true surly self came back as well.

Bonds is stuck with this mentality that everyone who doesn;t like him is a racist. No, Barry, it's because you're an , not because you're black. People like Ken Griffey, Jr. They liked Willie Mays. They don't like you.

Bonds takes steroids. Period. Unless he developed some form of giantism (no pun) that made his head grow twelve hat sizes. Steroids didn't help him get base hits, but it sure as hell put many of those hits into McCovey Cove.
