Well, the Nuggets beat the Grizzlies. The refs were horrible -- giving a huge advantage to the Grizzlies through 3 quarters... and then suddenly in the 4th, they basically balanced things out as it seemed the Nuggets couldn't get called for a foul no matter what they did.

That puts them a game up, and guarenteed to have the tie breaker, even though there's one more game between the two, for 7th place. With a Houston loss tonight, the Nuggets pull within one game against them, with one more game still to be played between the two. That would be for the 6th spot.

I'll add that the Rockets are currently losing by 12 to Golden State. :D

Who, upon signing George Karl when they were, like, 8 or 9 games under .500, would've thought the Nuggets would even be competing for a playoff spot, this year? Let alone, be in position to get the #6 spot? (Besides me, of course)

LET'S GO NUGGETS!

Last year's game #3 against Minnesota was the greatest sporting event I'd been to in my life. Crowd was electric. Gonna be more fun this year against either Seattle or Dallas (hopefully).

Gotta avoid the Spurs.

You were there too? It would've been amazing even had they not one... but blowing out the T-Wolves made it even better.

I remember how long it took to get out of the Pepsi Center that night and everybody chanting "Let's go Nuggets!" the entire time.

With their win tonight, and the Rockets loss, the Nuggets moved within a game of 6th place and they play in 10 days in Houston. Winner gets the tiebreaker.

With the way the Nuggets playing the way they have, they should be able to get that #6 seed, setting up a matchup with the Sonics -- whom the Nuggets are very capable of beating.

I'd argue that at this point in the season, full conference standings are more helpful than division. We're more concerned about playoff seeding, since most divisions are clinched by now.

Here's a question - is any newspaper in the country publishing the standings in the six-division format?

Here in Raleigh, I haven't seen a division-by-division breakdown the entire season; its always by Eastern/Western Conference.

Yes, pretty much everyone does. To me, why would the News-Observer feel compelled to do a standing by conference only? Was it because some readers wanted it, or did the RNO confused the NBA with the WNBA!!

Sorry for that rant at the end.

Pistons magic number to clinch their division is 4

Bostons magic number to clinch their division is 4.5, and I believe they would have to win their next two games to clinch a spot in the playoffs

Seattle has to win their next game, and Denver has to lose their next game for Seattle to clinch the Northwest Division,

and San Antonio would have the Mavericks to lose their next 2 and the Spurs would have to win the next 2 games to clinch. So right now the Southwest is the toughest division as far as clinching

Believe it or not my paper(The Winchester Star) does the 6 divisions. However, by the time you actually found Winchester...well...you probably wouldn't be able to got out :D

You just gave me goosebumps. I'm such a sick fan, it's scary. After the game, I just sat there until the ushers cleaning kicked me and my buddies out. I actually was next ot the dude that started the chant. He was in a shock, like me, and just yelled, "LET'S GO NUGGETS!" Someone else did the clapping. Suddenly, we all started doing it.

No problem. I didn't really recognize it as a rant, but, anyway... Readers in this case never got to voice an opinion I don't think - it's been conference-only standings since day one in the N&O.

Of course, I pay little attention to basketball anyway. People here are simply nuts about it, so from February to about mid-April, I don't even bother reading the paper.
