Nutt made loafing players wear them but no more. Just for the record....Houston Nutt is a jerk. Carry on.

Nutt doesn't want to offend cancer survivorsAssociated Press

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Arkansas coach Houston Nutt said that players caught loafing will no longer wear pink jerseys during practices in an effort to avoid offending breast cancer survivors.

Nutt received negative reaction from people when they saw the players in the pink jerseys. Breast cancer survivors and their supporters often wear pink ribbons, and the nationwide Race for the Cure, which raises funds for breast cancer research, uses the color pink as well.

"That's the last think I want to do, is to offend a cancer victim, someone who I know how strong and brave they are," Nutt said. "That was the last thing on our mind, to discredit somebody who has shown a lot of toughness. I've had members of my family who had cancer."

Nutt said the coaches are considering another color, possibly burnt orange, the color of Arkansas rival Texas.

Well let's see. By that rationale, injured hockey players shouldn't wear a yellow jersey in practice because that could be interepreted as offensive to: asian people, lance armstrong, big bird, veterans or people currenty serving in a war, etc.

It's a pink jersey. Is it really that big of a deal?

Also, the article doesn't state whether these were actual survivors who were upset or just nobodies with nothing better to complain about. If I were a cancer survivor I'd be more upset about this:

than any jersey someone was wearing.

I guess they won't be wearing red the rest of the season because they will offend AIDS victims. What a :censored:. Where does it end? Today's society is way to concerned about offending people. We're offended by colors now?

And when did arkansas become texas' rival?

And when did arkansas become texas' rival?

Before the Southwest Conference split into part of the SEC and the Big 12, Arkansas and Texas were as much a rivalry as anything. Through the 90s the rivalry calmed down because they didn't play anymore, but recently they've kicked it back up.

why do they need to wear pink jerseys for breast cancer awareness. if im the arkansas players, i'd be jumping with joy i wouldn't have to look like a :censored: in practice. as for offending cancer victims, im not so sure if it was so much that the pink offended him concerning cancer as much as it probably offended him to see arkansas wear the official color of california and the Rainbow Bush Coalition.

And you know this......HOW???

I know coach Nutt personally and can tell you he is ANYTHING but a jerk.Call someone out for different things...FACTUAL things but please by God dont call someone a jerk just because you dont like the football team he coaches or because you dont understand his methods in practice.I would like to know just what your specific reasons were for calling him such but I'll regress because I'm not going to let a thread turn into anything ugly.

Arkansas and Texas were one of the biggest rivalries in NCAA football from the early 60's right on until 1991,Arkansas' last season in the old Southwest Conference. On a historical note, most every Razorbacks' fan young and old know all about their #1 VS #2 battle with Texas with President Nixon in attendance that day in Fayetteville.Arkansas lead most of the way until a miracle touchdown pass to James Street. After the game President Nixon declared the Longhorns National Champions and even presented them with a plaque declaring such.

Through the years it grew from there.Arkansas' head coach and current A.D Frank Broyles and former Texas coach Darrell Royal were best friends off the field which didnt sit well with a lot of folks.Add to that Texas' former coach Fred Akers,

who was from Arkansas and whose son-in-law is former Razorback DT Tony Cherico...whose wife happen to be a former Longhorn cheerleader. All of that mixing of Hogs/Horns' circles just intensified it more.

The rivalry renewed in 1999 when Arkansas and Cedric Cobbs trounced Texas in the Cotton Bowl and then again in 2003 when the Hogs went to Austin and beat the top-ten Horns.

I swear sometimes I wish I was Canadian. This country is full of a bunch of cry babies. Who gives two :censored:s if they make the players wear Pink jerseys for loafing. That is between the team and the players. If you don't like it, too bad. Nobody is forcing those people to deal with the fact of the Pink jerseys.

Get over yourselves.

Bitch.

Maybe these were white jerseys that were washed with the red jerseys and turned pink. And Coach Nutt wanted to get use out of these and not go to waste.

Maybe I am just making excuses for Coach Nutt.

Woo Pig Sooey!!!!!! (whatever that means)

Ok...heres an honest question. What do people that bitch about this kind of stuff, what are they hoping to accomplish? Do they like living in a world where everyone's hands are collectivly tied behind or backs? Are htey really offended? Or, do they just want to get attention? Seeing that anyone that's normal couldn't possibly be number 1 or 2, they must just want attention. If we started looking outside in at ourselves every now and then some of these stupid things won't happen.

Not only that, coach Nutt looks like the bad guy here! For making grown men wear a different colored shirt as motovation. We still allow the Redskins to have their nickname, but a college football team can't wear pink. Wow.

You know, wusses everywhere should sue Breast Cancer for choosing their color.

Come to the great white north--but here if a coach made the players wear pink, and just one person complained to the human rights comission, that coach could be hauled in front of the comission so fast, and could be fined outrageous amounts--all becasue one person with too much time on their hands complained--and nobody else cared--I'm not saying this in reference to breast cancer victims--I'm saying this in an overall sense--becasue it happens.

AMEN! I am so tired of people being "offended". I will not live my life worrying about what I say or do because it might hurt someone's feelings. I wish everyone had the same attitude that the creators of South Park have. They don't give a :censored: about what ANYONE thinks. They aired an episode last Wednesday night directly ripping the whole Terry Schiavo situation, and i applaud them for having the nuts to do it.

Yeah back in the 70's. My dad always tells me how much he hated Texas because they always beat Arkansas, and how bad he felt for Texas when Arkansas finally beat them.

I'd have to agree with EZ - too many cry babies in this country. It's always, don't do this and don't offend them. Its getting where this country is so 'anal' about not offending this or that - for crying out loud, get a grip. If you don't like it - move the hell out of the country, but please don't go to Canada, I've got friends there.

Amen Brother EZ!!!

This is ridiculous. When I think of lazy ass basketball players in pink jerseys I think of it as a humiliaton tactic. It's a motivational device to motivate them. The last thing I'm thinking of is how women with breast cancer might feel about pink basketball jerseys.

In fact, anyone suffering from breast cancer, and everyone knows someone, is probably too preoccupied with their own f*%$ing survival and treatment to give a rat's ass about WHAT JERSEY THE ARKANSAS BASKETBALL TEAM IS WEARING.

EzStreet is right.
