The homeplate ump is trying to make sure the Sox win at least once. They are squeezing the strike zone on Mussina, big time.

I really wouldn't mind starting 3 up on the sox

yeah but then you're tied with the Yankees for first place, it's like winning the lottery, and then giving 70% of it to the government

it's 0-0 Top of the fourth

The point is, if you squeeze the zone you force the pitcher to throw the ball down the middle to get outs. Eventually a major league hitter will make him pay. Like now, it's bases loaded, no outs.

Huh what? First place? I just wanna finish third -- the real AL East Championship :)

Toronto Blue Jays

The REAL AL East Champions for six consecutive seasons:

1998 | 1999 | 2000 | 2001 | 2002 | 2003

I'm really looking forward to the other 20 posts for the games this year.

Chris, ever thought about adding a webchat function to the site? I think I would pay for that.

2-0 Sox....

DAMMIT MUSSINA :cursing:

you see why I dropped him now?

Well, I'm gonna stick with it. Hopefully the rest of the A.L. isn't as prolific as the defending World Champion Boston Red Sox (that still sounds weird  )

*sigh* stupid commentators.

"The Yankees are so loaded! If you don't pick them to win, there's something wrong with you!"

They've been loaded every year. What's it gotten them lately?

10 straight years to the playoffs and 6 trips to the World Series.

Heh, exactly -- I heard one announcer say "The Yankees haven't been to the World Series since 2003, so they are looking to get back in there" or something

a trip to the World Series isn't exactly 'winning' for the Yankees.

A team as loaded as they've been shouldn't lose a game -- let alone a 7 game series.

As much as I hate them and as obnoxious as their fans are, at least they get to cheer for 162+ games a year that mean something.

Oh, and they did win 4 of those trips.
