Anybody seen the grass at Shea?

The groundskeeper at Hammons Field in Springfield, MO - Brock Phipps - has several different patterns he uses. The traditional checkerboard, the sunburst, the bulls-eye and the 12-pack (as shown in this photo from Steven Croxton's Hammons Field web page):

With so many other ballparks out there with a "pattern" SBC just sticks out because it does not have a pattern...

Can anyone PLEASE explain why the grass at SBC Park looks so plain?  (I was even thinking mabie they had put fieldturf in a season or two ago)

It seems like ever since they opened that ballpark the groundskeepers have chosen not to cut the grass in any type of pattern.

nope. no pattern mowed into the grass at SBC Park. that was by the request of Giants CEO Peter Magowan.

doesn't bother me, and it shouldnt bother anyone else.

I also think the Giants use a different type of grass also. i could be wrong though

its a great growing trend like when they put all star game stars in the sand. i thought that they had the red sox socks in around the mound at fenway. i saw it in espn mlb 2k5. a lone star image would be good in houston and an uncle sam hat would look good in center field at yankee stadium.
