A Word Of Caution Ordering Custom Jerseys

WHY NOT JUST RETURN IT IF YOU ARENT HAPPY. You showed them exactly what you wanted and they said they could reproduce it. If they failed its on them.

As for the patches why dont they stich the whole patch and then just sew the patch on. It would allows for greater detail even at smaller sizes.

Just curious.

They wont return a custom made jersey. How would they sell it and make up for their loss?

Regarding the patches, if I understand your question, they do stitch the patch and then sew it on. The problem lies in their ability, or lack there of, to recreate the artwork in great detail via tackle twill / embroidery combo.

I have done hockey crest designs for teams and they have done both the full embroidery crests and the tackle twill / embroidery combos. In both instances the quality of the detail, even on small shoulder patches, were 10 times better than the FSGear crests / patches.

Full embroidery crests are unusual due to cost per stitch charges embroidery companies charge.

I work for a screen printer / embroiderer. We don't do the large crest tackle twill stuff or else I would do them in-house and control quality first hand.

Oh Well.

Well at least return it and ask them to fix the mistake. That they should be willing to do. I wasnt talking a full refund.

As for the crest. I guess my queston looking at it is, they use fabric along with stiching instead of a full stich patch which I think hinders the quality of work.

And as small as that patch is teh thred count will not get very high.

As for a full crest, I agree with Red in that you cant stich the whole thing but on a small patch I think its teh right way.

I agree that the smaller patches are lower stitch count. But you would be shocked at the number of stitches it takes to fully cover a 4 inch square area. That is why they are doing the tackle twill / embroidery combo.

You can definitely get better detail through full embroidery and some teams do go the route of full embroidered crests. You pay out the nose though. Given that, I have seen tackle twill / embroidery crests that are highly detailed. It's all in where you choose to apply the embroidery vs. tackle twill only within the crest.

I didn't bother raising a stink on my jersey because given the lower quality that they produced on the crests I figured they don't have the high-end embroidery skills that I am used to having access to via companies like Hooter Sportswear (toughjersey.com). I am currently searching for a better alternative.

Hooter, eh? Are you in the Cities?

If the company is concerned about making up for their loss on the returned item, maybe they should have taken more care to get it right in the first place.

I've been looking for a place to get a fantasy baseball jersey made. I've google-searched the heck out of it, and email a half-dozen places. Everyone has 6-10 minimum order sizes.

Any thoughts?

I was very happy with the value I got on my first jersey through FsGear.net.

Yes, the chest patch on it was cut kind of funny and some small inconsistencies, but for the price I paid it was definitely a great deal.

The only reason why I am complaining on the 2nd one, is because it was a human error at the factory that could have (and should have) been avoided. They got the color right the first time, so I know it wasnt such a bizarre request to duplicate the results.

The white jersey I got would have been a perfect 10 as far as quality goes if they got the color right... so I would recommend FSGear.net and Earl... I would just say make sure you speak to them in detail and make sure you are as specific about EVERYTHING, and save your emails, in case there is an error you have something to show.

I was generally pleased with my order from Earl. I have been trying to get in contact with him about another, and possibly a working relationship, but my e-mails have unfortunately not been answered. There were a couple minor glitches from my design, but nothing I would lose sleep over (Width of collar stroke, arm numbers too low on the arm). Other than that, I was quite pleased with my jersey.

It's good to see that he's offered to remedy your problem, which speaks volumes about a company's integrity.

NewYawkSeahawk, I'm sure that if Earl wants that big order, he'll personally get involved to the point of standing behind the little old ladies working the sewing machines to insure that your jerseys are done correctly! :D

Long-time reader, long-time uniform junkie, first-time poster....

SyPhi, try Uniforms Express. No minimum order. I am working on getting a couple of jersey for the college I went to (small D2 school in TX, not big into merchandising). Tell them what you want and they'll even make a .jpg of it for you beforehand.

Go Astros!

Go Texans!

Go Rockets!

Go Javelinas!

  • 5 weeks later...

Just to follow up....

Earl emailed me and told me they redid the white one where the colors were off and sent it out.... I should have it tomorrow or Friday and will post pictures when I get a chance.

As for the other ones.... since they werent able to secure the right color mesh, nothing I can really complain about since they refunded my money.

So to those who order custom jerseys... if you are not 100% happy when it arrives, definitely let them know and see if they can correct it...

The guy from FSGear said that no one has ever been less than 100% satisfied with their jerseys... which I found strange seeing as how several people had voiced disatisfaction in this thread....

I'm thinking of getting an authentic MLB jersey in my name. Who would you recommend in terms of both price and authenticity? I want the right style of numbers and the correct patches.

I would recommend exclusivepro.com. Their prices on the blank jersey are just as good as anybody else, and they have good prices on customization. But, they charge extra if you are putting a name on the jersey that is not the name of a player on the team.

It might be hard to tell the difference but here is a picture...

The color is a lot more noticeable in person and also on the numbers in the back.

Some of you may say "Hey, what are you complaining about... it looks good"

Fair enough... but I paid for Seahawks Blue, not Seattle Blue.. they had a detailed spec in front of them with a clear image and color value... PLUS they got the first one right. Also what is horrible is they got the trim the right shade of blue under the collar and at the base... At least if they were all the same color... I might not mind as much.

The one on the left is the one with the old colors... too bad too, cause the quality and construction of the patch is more professional than the first one (on the right).

If you ordered it in one color and they sent it to you in the wrong color they have to take it back right? or was it a color mess up on your part? But if it was their mistake and wont take it back, take em to court.

EDIT: N/M, I didnt read all the posts. Forget it.

Yeah, color mistake on their behalf... the new white one's patch looks just like the one on the dark blue one.

Well they got it out quick. Was it quick enough to present at the awards dinner?

no, that was a different jersey... they were never able to get that completed.

I am told June/July they might be able to get the mesh material from overseas.
