Concept: Memphis Baseball

Presenting..... the Memphis Ribs!

Believe it or not, this is my very first baseball concept. I had the idea for a minor-league team last weekend while watching the Food Network and have been working on it for the past week. Several revisions later (my first few designs, while well thought out, looked crappy), I finally have something presentable.

Do not adjust your monitor, the home uni is bone, not white. In fact, there's no white in the concept.

Comments, critiques, suggestions and free beer welcome.

They better serve barbecue at their home games. Man, just looking at that makes me hungry.

I agree. They better follow the way of the Biscuits and serve their namesake at their games. Even though it would suck to be the guy who has to clean up the stadium after the game.

My only concern is that the "ribs" in the primary really don't look like ribs. They look more like red fish sticks. Or mozzarella sticks.

I was a bit concerned about that myself, but I wanted to keep it as clean and simple as possible. I tried something more realistic, but it looked like clip art, and a more stylized version was way too abstract.

Fortunately, I didn't make any marks with the ribs standing alone, so I think I'd avoid confusion there.

this is really awesome. The scripts are great and I like the flame over the I's. You shgould show an entire uniform, I think they'd be great. What font did you use for the "Memphis" script?? I've been looking for a good cursive baseball font.

Honestly, it's just Brush Script. I just fattened it up with an offest path and gave it a little rotation.

I'll probably work these, and the other one I posted, into full unis.
