iDonovan Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 these logos are for a Red Deer Lacrosse team (club) each age group gets a different name, but the same main logo. Β
officeglenn Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 Nice ... really nice. I'd like to see it without the puffs of smoke from the nostrils, but that's not a huge deal. Good stuff.
Jay Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 very very nice work. I'd also lean towards no puff's though, i think it'd be stronger without them. and maybe change that red under the chin to one of the other colors in your pallatte... i can't see it elsewhere in the logo, so it just looks like it's adding an extra color. those are just nitpicks though, i really like the design.
vicfurth Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 I, too, would leave off the smoke. Only other gripe a can come up with is not to go so crazy with the shading on the head. IMO, a little will go a long way.Other than that, muy props.
deucedwo Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 The concept looks really nice. Above and beyond anything I could ever create but as a critique (which hopefully will help), the right antler looks like it is more in the center of the head than the left antler. I know the overall picture looks good and the antlers seem to balance, but if you look at their base it looks quite awkward.
winters in buffalo Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Awesome, but is the red along the right side of the neck (near the mouth) a brighter shade of red? Looks odd, but I could be seeing things.
STL FANATIC Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 If I've learned my iDon, then most of your guys suggestions will be answered on any production done with the logos...He'll probably lose the smoke (since it's translucent) which will make the bright red make more sense (there is a spot of the logo that gets bright to show perspective, but it's hard to see with the smoke), and he will lighten up on the shading quite a bit.He always spruces 'em up for presentation and down for production.Regardless of how right I am on the above...Great work again Donovan. otherwilds Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Aw heck keep the smoke, keeps the dear head from looking like it has been mounted on a wall as a trophy
iDonovan Posted May 18, 2005 Author Posted May 18, 2005 I kind'a added the snort cloud so the deer did not look stuffed and mounted Β
Sterling84 Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 iDon......I just.....I just don't like this one very much.I hope ya know I respect you and your work immensely and don't mean this as a dig.I just think this one doesn't measure up to the bar that you've set.The white on the near side of the snout/muzzle looks to not go up as high as the white on the far side. The reds and violet shades are (to me at least) really at odds with one another. Most obvious though is the antler issue. Deuce brought up that one of the antlers seems to emerge from the forehead. But I also think they read extremely flat. Almost as though they are twisted perpendicular to the general/spinal axis of the animal. Like two little garden rakes turned outward. They clearly have form as you've got some shadow modelling on them, but their orientation in space undoes that effect.I can appreciate that simplification is in order. Tempest noted earlier in a different thread that antlers are incredibly difficult because of their complex, helix spinning nature. I concur and find antlers tough to render..especially in a 3/4 view like here. Anyways.....just my $0.02. Everything else is tight as always and it still scores a solid 8.0 on all fronts. Just think there's room to grow on this one. The Official Cheese-Filled Snack of NASCAR
