Discrim
I tell ya what, the Angry King was the only good ting about that Kings alt. I miss that logo, but like the Isles lighthouse, it had teh misfortune of being on a crappy/reviled jersey. and I always say, that Ducks jersey wasn't that bad-only they chose then to pick an illegible number font adding...Purdue's gold jerseysWyoming's yellow jersey (it existed....don't tell me it didn't)Georgetown hoops in silver and blue, not that fugly black and rust green they use nowTemple early 2000s footballIowa 'wings' jerseyIowa Barnstormers, speaking of IowaSt. John's mid-90s hoopsToronto Argos 96-0494 Cowboys doublestarsRangers red-dominated uniformsMilwaukee Admirals 90s skating admiral, though I have no gripe with what we got nowany Scottish Claymores jerseyany Rhein Fire jersey before 200095 Amsterdam Admirals97 Racine Raiders black homemid 90s Racine Raiders 50s-throwbacks (also black)Toronto PhantomsLA Avengers before this seasonSJ Sabercats before last seasonas much as I hate to admit it, the Gerbils' double M jersey (aka the M-boobies )oh yeah, boardname-it's the Paper Clips A strong mind gets high off success, a weak mind gets high off bull

teenchy
Where to start? Dunno but I'll bet very few others liked this one:I'll have to think of more. Who are they - Rockets, or Clippers? First Clippers unis after moving from Buffalo. The name "CLIPPERS" is spelled out down the shorts leg in nautical signal flags.Add me to the list of many who thinks the Chargers should return to the AFL-era powder blues as their primary uniforms. I also agree that their throwbacks should be the medium blue and yellow versions from the "Air Coryell" years - not just from an aesthetic standpoint, but just because navy unis don't make much sense in the SoCal heat! VitaminD
Where'd you grab this picture, teenchy? This is exactly what I was talking about on an older thread, where people where talking about logos/wordmarks that have nothing to do with the team name, and someone kept insisting that the L.A. Clippers present identification package has a nautical theme. Which it does not. But this set from San Diego does - the nautical flags down the sides of the shorts were one of the most novel ideas ever. There's a nautical theme. "Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17. I only wish I could've found a good pic of World B. Free or Bill Walton in that uni, but this is the only one I could find that showed the flags on the uni shorts.San Diego sports teams have ahd some cool logos over the years. I realize there's some political incorrectness to this one but I always liked the ABA Q's logo:Still think of that team when I hear Procol Harum. bulldogbarks55
In the NFL I liked the Broncos unis from '65 or so with the orange helmet with the cartoon bronco and the jerseys with the contrasting sleeves. Those threads were COOL! Also I miss the old Redskins helmet with the feather on the top. And I loved the Chargers with the columbia blue, white and gold sets. The Michigan Panthers helmets were one of football's all-time best.In basketball I really liked the Kentucky Colonels royal-red-white combo. Their lettering and numbers were outstanding. I didn't care for the colors but I liked the swoosh-striped Atlanta Hawks unis of the early '70s. Ditto for the Pacers with this style but their lettering and numbers stunk. As much as I hate the Lakers, I still like the blue and white unis they first wore in La-La land. Minneapolis' columbia blue and gold are great, too.In MLB I miss the original '62-'64 Houston Colt .45s with the pistol for a tail. And any uniform that Toronto wore when they actually wore BLUE! The Michigan Panthers helmets were one of football's all-time best. I tried to use that 'skins helmet theme on my Furman Paladins helmet in the I-AA contest, substituting a sword for the feather. Unfortunately my graphic arts skills and software are nonexistent so it doesn't look as good as I'd have liked.I agree on the Panthers' helmets; I thought several of the USFL teams had nice unis (Panthers, Bulls, Breakers, Gamblers, Invaders, Maulers). FirearmofMutiny
NHL: Calgary Flames' last two jersey sets before the current one, Senators black before the "swoosh" red/black jersey, previous Canucks set, Flyers orange, LA Black/Silver, and I wouldn't be a good Minnesota hockey fan if I didn't say North Stars, would I? NFL: Chargers' powder blue, previous Bills jerseysMLS: 97 Tampa Bay Mutiny; that and 98-99 were the only ones that did the team justice as for still-active MLS teams, I have to agree with the original Crew jersey pick. That and the original Chicago Fire jerseys.MLB: Astros 94-end of Astrodome era jerseys, Blue Jays early 90's jerseys
ahub
While I agree that the Chargers powder blue's are sweet as any, I don't know if those really qualify as defunct, because they have worn them in at least one game the last few years. I know they are technically "throwbacks" but I think of them more as alternates for the Chargers. Plus the white version of that design isn't as cool as the home, so that would be 1/8 of all games. Frylock
The one that sticks out the most from my childhood would be this one:Dale Murphy and Chuck Tanner... Wow. I've GOT to get me one of those with HORNER 5 on the back.In retrospect, since they wore this for one year - before I was born - I have a fondness for this jersey in both home and road styles:Another on that's before my time, but an ALL-TIME classic for Portland hockey fans:Sadly, the Ebbets Field/Stall & Dean replica is slighlty imperfect, as it has incorrect stripes, but it's the crest which is brilliant. StoneRaizer
The old Cornwall Royals *sniff*Pinstripes on a basketball jersey > all.Screw the World League, those are the best London Monarchs unis.Slap the new logo on those old jerseys and you have a winner.
