why did they tear down old wembley stadium? i know they are building a new one but why?

The old one was, well, old, just like any stadium that has been around. The new stadium is on the same site as the old one. They completely tore down the old one and have almost finished the new one.

Actually Wembley will be a purely soccer stadium. The olympic stadium will be located elsewhere.

Original stadium was built in 1923 so ya it was old,and the new one is set to hold the olympic football final so its not entirely irrelevant to the London 2012 bid,which i have supported from the start

I thought they were keeping the Twin Towers. Guess not.

The plan was to keep the twin towers in the original designs, which would be on the walkway leading up to the stadium, but they scrapped it and went with a big arch.
