You do realize that if they actually followed the age-old rule that a puck crossing the line is a goal, the Flames would be champs and there would be no game 7, of course?

The Lightning's "championship" is as phony as a 3-dollar bill.

Just a little bitter, eh? :D

press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of

speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us

the freedom to demonstrate. And it is the soldier who salutes the

flag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag, and

who allows the protester to burn the flag."

They never did conclusively determine that the puck did completely cross the line. The angle that ABC produced did have the puck in the air. And I did once see a picture taken from the goal line that showed the puck in the air over the goal line, but not actually passing it completely.

Do you still blame Billy Buckner for '86 Series as well?

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Nah, I don't blame Buckner at all. It's Schiraldi that screwed that one up.

But it's not just the phantom goal. Tampa Bay had a disproportionate amount of power plays compared to anyone else in the playoffs (something like a 3-1 ratio over Calgary). You can't tell me that other teams chose to all of a sudden play dirty against the Lightning. The officiating was routinely one-sided throughout.

and Hulls skate was in the crease.

Maybe so...but that was game six...what happened to the Sox in game 7? Did they not have another chance to win?

EDIT: Schiraldi also screwed up Game 7...my stupid fuzzy memory

Just like the Cubs/Bartman game 6. What about Game 7?

While I believe they were cheated out of the goal, there was still time for the Lightning to have tied it up and won that game anyways--it wasn't in OT (like in 1990--but I'm over that now)

Comic Sans walks into a bar, and the bartender says, "Sorry, we don't serve your type here."

Thanks for opening old wounds. I'll have to drink for a week to suppress that memory again.

Calgary couldn't score clutch goals when they needed to. End of story.
