Jersey Sizes Getting Bigger

...my biggest jersey is a Maxime Ouellet Caps jersey..its a 62G with extra material sewn in each side making it out to close to a 70..its like a tent...its gameworn(Preseaon) and its awesome..the biggest difference with G jerseys is the sleeves are cut real wide and shorter to allow the blocker and catching glove to come out....

Shaquille O'Neal weighs 320! Except he's also 6" taller.

Alright, I've heard enough from you toothpicks complaining about not being able to find clothes. Go to the damn kids section. Try to find size 15 shoes. 44 inch waist with 36 inch inseams. 20 inch necks with 37 inch sleves on dress shirts. 58 extra long suit or sport coat. And no, I'm not fat. I'm 6'7 and 320 lbs., but it is not fat. You have no idea what it means to have a hard time finding clothes that fit.

Who are you calling toothpick, cotton ball? :P

Do you really suggest us toothpicks try to wear kids XL clothing? It's almost like us trying to fit into mens XL clothing, but with part of bottom taken out. In high school I had a children's XL jacket. It did not fit me from top to bottom and it way to loose on the shoulders and arms. Not good. :cursing:

Other than the pants, I would agree that it would be hard for you to find clothing in those sizes. :)

I saw, I came, I left.

44's not the problem for pants, it's the 36...

And OK, maybe there's a little bit of fat B) But not a lot. I'm "big," not "fat." Think an in shape NFL offensive lineman.

I just wanted to point out that it goes both ways.

If you believe what his bio says, yes he's 320. If you believe what I believe, as someone who weighs 320, and what I've heard from others, he's likely closer to 380 or 400. The man is huge.

Sorry about the cotton ball comment. I just chose that because in my house the cotton balls are near the toothpicks :D

I really do think you have it much, much, tougher because I believe most manufacturers produce clothing within a certain size range and don't feel it's worth producing those in you size. I once saw a presentaion that surveys the sizes soldiers wear and only a handful were anywhere near your size.

There really is no reason why I can't find the right pair of pants. I'm 5'-6", 140 lbs. but yet, I can't seem to find the right fitting pants. Everything else is fine for me, just the pants

I saw, I came, I left.

I'm 5'6" and 155 and I wear Express jeans. Try those they'll fit. GAP stuff fits too but not like Express Men's jeans.

Actually...I'm 5'6.5" I just wanted to point that out hehehehe. :hockeysmiley:

Also...Shaq is not 380 to 400 lbs, and I don't ever remember seeing an in-shape offensive lineman. I'd say I'm built kinda like Brian Giles on the Braves.

I, for one, am thrilled to see jerseys available in larger sizes. I do have a game-worn goalie hockey jersey, and wear it regurarly. Two in fact. Both are size 56-G, and fit me perfectly.

Toothpick? Hardly. I may be a lightweight, but it's all muscle :P

Thankfully baseball and basketball still make size 44 jerseys b/c that's what fits me. Unfortunately it seems football and hockey think the smallest person comes in size 48. I own a few authentics in each sport and the hockey and football ones are kinda big on me, but I get them anyway b/c I can't find smaller sizes. I happen to have one Miami Dolphins authentic that is a rare 46...but it used to belong to a player and we had the name and numbers stripped and had my own name put on it. Therefore it was specially made. I don't understand why companies think everyone is a size 48 or bigger...maybe they think if you weigh under 175 lbs you shouldn't be a sports fan?

THey make no jersey that can fit my husky ass. I don't know why us fatasses can't wear sports jerseys. THey need some bigger sizes.

Seriously, look at supply and demand. There are FAR more XL folks walking around the world than their are S and Ms.

That pi$$es me off the most because I have a really, really hard time finding a decent pair of pants that are my size. I usually look for a 30" waist. I go to store: I see 36", 40" 42" waist. I would take a good half-hour looking all over the section just to find something that fits me. :cursing:

Come to america and all those pant sizes disapear...trust me. All i can find is 30s. Skinny bastards!

My biggest problem isnt waist size. I can wear any kind of shorts in a 34 or 36, but in long pants i have to wear a 40 or higher. They fit my waist fine, but my thighs bust them out. It seems like a lot of pants have the thighs really close to the size of the calf. Now thats annoying. I guess thats what you get when you can squat 450+

I'm 5' 8", 150lbs, and my biggest problem is with the Reebok NFL replicas..for God's sake, all I ask is for CONSISTENCY!!! I have an Amani Toomer jersey in a medium, and the thing fits like a charm! But I try on a Doug Flutie Patriots medium, and the thing is tight around my waist (and mind you, I'm a size 30-31 waist) Problem is, when I try on a Large Patriots jersey, it's like a damn dress on me. I'd be happy if all mediums fit the same....

Okay, this used to be the sizing standard back when Champion and Starter were doing replica jerseys:

Small - 36

Medium - 40

Large - 44

X-Large - 48

XX-Large - 52

And here's the new Reebok standard:

Medium - 46

Large - 50

X-Large - 52

XX-Large - 54

3X-Large - 56

4X-Large - 58

5X-Large - 60

Of course, a few years back, Champion changed their standard, too. All of the XFL jerseys I have are labeled "48" but actually measure out to be 52s.

So, in the fashion world of football jerseys, I've gone from an XL to an M in 9 years while actually putting on a few pounds in the process. Go fig.

i was just talking about this earlier today...

i've got an XL mavericks nowitzki third jersey, and it's a tent on me... but i've got an XL mavericks van exel home jersey, and it fits me perfectly... then i've got an XL mavericks najera old-style blue/green road jersey, and it's a little tight-fitting.

then i've got a million XL hockey jerseys... most of them fit me fine... but i got an authentic 67 north stars jersey, and the collar on that sucker is big enough for my waist, almost... as opposed to my XL dallas stars authentic white jersey, that fits me a little loose, but doesn't look strange.

then i've got an XL titans puma kearse jersey that fits perfectly, but the numbers are falling apart... and it fits me exactly like my newer L titans reebok kearse jersey... and i've got 3 XL reeboks that fit me like tents.

i ordered a jevon kearse eagles authentic off of ebay today, and it said it was a size 50..... i'm scared to get it. i don't know if it'll be too big or too small or just right. it's a good thing my mom is good friends with a seamstress lady, because i'm strongly considering bringing her some of my bigger jerseys and getting them fit a little snugger... although i'm not sure she can do much to my north stars jersey.

but yeah, i feel your pain, people... i'm 5'11, 220, and i find myself swimming in some XL's, but struggling to move in others.

The thing i like about the new Reebok NFL replicas are the side slits on the bottom. Back in the day if i wore a large it would fit everywhere but it was too damn tight towards the bottom so i had to wear an XL which was a tent on me. Now that Reebok has made more room towards the bottom a large fits me perfetly. I didnt discover this out though untill about two months ago so i have a ton of XL jerseys that look rediculous on me.
