Phoenix Coyotes & Washington Capitals

I think this came up on one of the old boards awhile ago but I can't remember what was said then.  NHL.com has the Capitals' crossed-sticks and dome logo and the Coyotes' coyote-head logo shown by the links to their respective official sites.  Does this mean they've switched over to those logos as their primary logos this year?  PhoenixCoyotes.com only uses the coyote-head logo and WashingtonCaps.com primarily uses the sticks and dome one but uses the eagle as well.

All other official NHL dealys show the regular Coyotes and Capitals logos, yet shows the new Kings and Penguins.

My guess is that it may be made official for next season.

Which other official places have you seen the change not made?  The Official 2003 NHL Yearbook didn't have the LA and Pittsburgh changes.

Maybe it's a part of something bigger...like maybe they're gonna make remake their home jerseys with that logo. (And for Phoneix, the away jersey as well)?

great point, I noticed this too about 2 weeks ago and had been meaning to make a post.  I am almost sure the "eagle" logo was on nhl.com earlier in the year for the Caps, however I "know" that the coyoted head logo has been there the entire season.

i certainly hope they change to the capitol dome logo. i've been a lifelong caps fan but have never liked that wierd eagle one. thats why i didnt use it as my avatar. went to my 2nd fave team instead

Several independant sources (but none inside the Coyotes' organization) say that the coyote-head logo took over as the primary this year with the implication that it will be all over the new arena and on the new jerseys next year.

In Phoenix's case, that'd be a good thing.  The current full coyote's decent, but the coyotes head would be cool.  (It'd be even sweeter if they could buy the logo from the Zephyr XLine and use that.  That's sweet.)

In Washington's case, it'd be horrible.  The eagle logo is good.  It's simple, yet sharp.  The dome logo is one of the examples of something I hate in a primary jersey crest, for the most part--the name splattered on the logo.  Fer chrissake, why?!
