Gothamite
Interesting.I'm not up on my copywright law, but it seems to be similar to "web squatting," where somebody registers an obvious domain name for a famous entity in hopes of later selling the name to that entity.MLB seems to have a pretty strong case, but I'd be just as happy if the new owners used this as an excuse to go back to the Senators. IceCap
senators? sorry. dosnt fit, considering the fact that washington dc dosnt even have a senator of its own. besides, nationals is a great name. from what ive seen the washington fanbase has become attached to the nationals name and identity. imo all of those hopping in a return to senators are just engaging in whishfull thinking. pooter
That is why we have a team in MLB named the "Devil Rays" also. When the big push for MLB in the Tampa Bay area was going on, some low-life trailer-park dweller registered the names like Tampa Bay Thunder, etc., etc., in hopes that the new owner would pay him mucho bucks for the name. Sorta get rich quick. But Namoli refused to pay for a name and they ended up being called the Devil Rays. I read that he registered like 75 different variants to the Tampa Bay __________, St. Petersburg __________, Florida _________, and ended up with nothing. Serves him right. Thanks butthead.( I would call him worse, but this is a family show. )
kris9er
the district of columbia dosnt have a senator the represents the district itself. I believe you are wrong. The District does have a single Senator; he just does not get to vote.If Senators was good enough back in the day, it sure is good enough for today. They already hijacked the "W" might as well go the whole 9 yeards and get the name too.
AndrewG70
The District does have a single Senator; he just does not get to vote. Actually, the District of Columbia has a delegate to the House of Representatives (Eleanor Holmes Norton). And yes, she does not get to vote. The House also has non-voting delegates representing Guam, American Samoa and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Puerto Rico has a non-voting resident commissioner in the U.S. House.
