LOGOLYMPIAD: Closing Ceremonies

Recommended Posts

Well, these past 8 weeks really seem to have flown by. Over the course of 14 events, we had 69 designers submit a total of 198 individual entries.

21 of you went on to earn 39 medals.

But in the end, 3 stand above the rest...

With 5 medals, including a gold, 3 silvers and a bronze, for a total of 10 points, the Bronze Trophy winner for 2005 is...Puckguy14

Congratulations!

Special thanks to our panel of judges, who were quite busy throughout the early rounds. They are: TheMadMac, zer0dotcom, VanZepplin1984, Darthman, bosox, mudbug33, yh, Mockba, Astrobull21, Avenger (2004 Champion), IronChefShark, tarhelltider, hubsportsfan17, aussie, OMMF, wheateater, BelfourThibault, lilg, and jkrdevil.

I'd also like to thank Mockba and quadival for making sure the events got pinned and unpinned when needed.

Special thanks to stealthfrog for lending me his logo for the wordmark event.

I'd also like to congratulate willmorris for becoming the first, and only, person to enter all 14 events.

And of course, a monster thanks goes out the boss man himself, Chris Creamer. When I first had the idea for Logolympiad early last year, I wasn't sure how it would be accepted. Chris gave me the thumbs up and let me run with it and I think I can say things worked out quite well.

I think that the changes we made for 2005 only made things better, but please let me know your thoughts on this year's event. Feel free to make suggestions on what you'd like to see done in 2006.

And with that, I hereby declare the games of the second Logolympiad... closed.

What an awesome trophy! I participated in this to prove myself, and to try to get some creative juices flowing before I go to college for Graphic Design. I accomplished both far from what I expected. BIG THANK YOUS go to Chris, all of the participants, voters & judges, and especially WIB for showing everyone how wonderful contests can be in the Creamerboard. :notworthy:

The elite designers decided not to show up this time around. That's fine. I still might be years behind them, but I know that I'm starting to catch up. They can deny it all they want and call me talentless, but they know inside that I've got the potential, the detemination, and NOW the confidence to dethrone them.

This is just the beginning.

Ooops. I thought it was you. Sorry to whoever it was that I've forgotten about.

WiB that was me making sure they were up if Mockba didn't. I also want to thank all of those who voted for my concepts. I seriously questioned my graphic skills after the inaugural run last year. This year I wanted to come back stronger, and I believe I did, but as always there is room for improvement, which I hope can show next year.

So, now that it is over, can you let us know how the judges were picked? I havent even heard of a lot of those guys.

They volunteered after I posted the original message.

I didn't turn anyone away, although one backed out so he could enter the events, and two others 'resigned' over unavailabilty.

Not everyone voted in every event. I usually got 11-13 responses.

If I had 10 or fewer entries, we skipped the judges and went right to final voting.
