otherwilds
Mr. Fussy Britches was told to leave Eagles camp after a verbal altercation with Coach Andy Reid. Owens did not participate in the morning practice session presumably due to his groin strain. The argument occurred during a mid-day team meeting. What an A$$, no one player is greater than the team. Owens has become the living personification of the term "petulant diva".
Andy
This isn't going to be a good year for the Eagles if they don't resolve this problem soon.
See Red
I hope ending their season with a loss one game later than they usually do was worth it, for Eagles fans.

BBTV
Owens is a cancer. If I'm Philly, I trade his ass. Yeah, and teams are lining up to take him...Supposedly, he was given the morning off to rest his groin. He decided to come out in full uniform (pads, helmet, etc.) and run all of his routes (with the asst. trainer playing QB) on a private practice field. I guess Reid thought he was showing him up. Also, T.O. blew-off an autograph thing a couple days ago and that pissed a lot of people in the organization off, because they really push the fan-interaction thing. He is suspended for a week, and he could be suspended again and again. But he ain't getting traded or cut anytime soon.
Jigga
And just when you thought it couldn't get any worse. This season is not going to be a good one for the Eagles. T.O. probably deserved more money, but he's provided a textbook example of how not to conduct himself. This is going to get worse before it gets better. T.O. probably deserved more money, but he's provided a textbook example of how not to conduct himself. This is going to get worse before it gets better. Deserved more money? He got 9 million last year. He will be getting 12.5 over the first two years of his deal. And the team is / was planning on giving him his 6 million bonus next season. You don't deserve more money for doing your job, especially not one year after signing. The Eagles will be OK with or without him. Not as good as they would be with him, but still probably the best in the NFC (although the gap between them and Atl, Minn., and Carolina will not be that big.) Winning the Super Bowl may be out of the question though.
otherwilds
Every time T.O. and his agent Spawn of Satan Drew Rosenhouse bitch about his contract remeber this fact. Gene Upshaw and the NFL Players Association advised Owens NOT to sign that deal last year. Yes Drew did not rep him that and I understand the lack of guarantee mony in the NFL contracts but there comes a time for a man to shut the hell up and play.Seadragon76- what is the Seattle curse and how does it apply to the Diva in question? Owens' initial contract was below what a player of his caliber deserved. However, he signed it, so he should live with the terms and play football. I'm not a T.O. apologist, by any means, I'm not defending him, and I'm not saying he deserves more now! No disrespect meant, but don't read what you want into my post. Deserved with -ed signifies past tense, that's all I meant. He shouldn't get another dime, especially with the way he's handled this whole mess. I'm not hating, I just think it's going to be a bad year for them.

Unlike some on this board, I don't take that as "hate" towards Philadelphia or me. It is easy to think that TO is most of their team, but I think that they are well rounded enough to survive fine without him (and Pinkston.) Hell - they survived half a season without Donovan! As for the contract, if you average the first three years, he is right up there with the top receivers in the game. They just worked the bonuses as "roster" bonuses instead of a big signing bonus.
Seadragon76
Seadragon76- what is the Seattle curse and how does it apply to the Diva in question? Oh, and the Seattle Curse is basically afflicted on those who screw over Seattle teams in one way or another. The best example of this is Ken Griffey Jr. He wanted out of Seattle and got traded to Cincinnati. What has he done since leaving Seattle? It's also easy to get over the Curse. A-Rod is a great example. He screwed the M's over by signing the $100 Million deal with the Rangers, and before getting traded to the Yankees, he and his team were dead last.As how it pertains to T.O., remember the Sharpie incident? Yeah. I do. It still angers me to this day, as a diehard Seahawks fan. I would like to see him on the field so the 'Hawks can smear his ass on December 5th on MNF, but seeing him get thrown out of camp is just as funny. Bleujayone
It's a simple matter of money. If Owens were to only hold out, the Eagles wouldn't have to pay him. He would lose a year off his career and he wouldn't have anything to show for it. BUT... if he reports to camp and suffers a "groin injury" or some other hard to define ailment, he is then put on the injured reserve list and still paid. Flash forward a time later when he's given a contract restructure or just traded elsewhere and he makes a miracle recovery. The nimrod did a real stupid thing holding his own one-manned work-out. If he was really hurt he risks furthur injury to himself and the Eagles investment in him, if he isn't, it means he's been faking and is just warming up to sell himself to another team. Either way he's a disruption to the team. Maybe he just worked too hard making that damned "Right Guard Xtreme" ad.
sscrunner06
Maybe if the press would ignore him for a few weeks T.O. would somewhat go away. The problem is that every move he makes becomes the leading story of Sportscenter no matter what else is happening in the world of sports. It pisses me off that there are hundreds of other NFL players out there who are working hard, earning their paychecks, and bonding as a team, while a couple of idiots gripe like children because they feel $49 million isn't quite enough to support a family. I am just sick of hearing about this story every day...I wish T.O. would pull a Ricky and go away for a year or two.

otherwilds
Now some critics will point to the Bengals/Peter Warrick stituation as a defense for Owens put keeep in mind that Cincinatti is discussing a pay cut or waiving him. So he potentially has the choice of less money or no job at all. Excuse I hear helicopters over head so it must be time for my driveway work to begin.
