Gary Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Here is the StoryNAU Updates LookI personally like it, nice modernization to a classic logo
lucky Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Is that the same font as some of the University of Arizona's marks? Weird. Yeah do that. Do exactly THAT
tajmccall Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 That dudes face is rendered oddly. I dont know, im not a fan. Store 1 Store 2
kelvarnsen Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 I saw the helmets on TV, I believe they are using the NAU with the ax, no "Lumberjacks" on the helmet decal. They looked pretty nice. Much improved over their previous stuff.
Steve-O Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Looks like the "Lumberjack" was made by the same company that creates the X-line logos, I almost guarantee it.
oddball Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Is he frozen? It looks like they just pulled him out of the freezer! The only that logo seems to be missing is the ice hanging off him. Must be cold up in Northern Arizona this time of year...
Brian in Boston Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 I'm a fan of the wordmark and axe logo in particular. The new logos were created by Phoenix Design Works.
CityOfWalrus Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 I'm a fan of the wordmark and axe logo in particular. second that
leggman01 Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 redeye did a concept/submission that was MUCH, MUCH BETTER than this...maybe he could post his version in this thread
creativelysain Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 ^ i was thinking the exact same thing Follow me on twitter @jrsainGo Heels
VitaminD Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 That dudes face is rendered oddly. I dont know, im not a fan. Your comment made me go back and look. I agree. Three reasons why:1. His mouth is lopsided and disturbingly huge. His beard grew over his lips, since he doesn't have any, and his right mouth extends beyond the right edge of his beard (since you can see teeth being partially obscured by the facial hair). That's a mouth and a half!2. He needs a skin color. At least, he needs a healthy color - he's either the Silver Surfer's woodlands cousin or he is severely hypothermic.3. He's missing a forehead. Like Yosemite Sam, there are bushy eyebrows, then a hat. No forehead at all. Very pre-human hominid. "Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.
artvandelay Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 On a creativity scale of 1-10 I give the new mars a 2. "...and you want to be my latex salesman."
WSU151 Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Looks like the "Lumberjack" was made by the same company that creates the X-line logos, I almost guarantee it. That was my first impression as well. It looks just like an X-Line logo...especially those eyes and teeth. Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.
artvandelay Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 It looks like a statue. I heard that they didn't want to offend people by making him white, so they made him a neutral gray color. That's understandable becasue I saw a lot of black guys participating in the Great Outdoor games. "...and you want to be my latex salesman."
number55 Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Sing along with me:I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok, I sleep all night and I work all day.I cut down trees, I wear high heels, suspenders and a braI wish I'd been a girly, just like my dear Papa.Ahh, I love Monty Python. And to keep this post on-topic, yes I agree, the face is oddly rendered, the skin colour makes the character look dead.
IronChefShark Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 looks more like a Yeti dressed as a lumberjack then it does an actual lumberjack US state flag concepts
-kj Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 It looks like a statue. I heard that they didn't want to offend people by making him white, so they made him a neutral gray color. That's understandable becasue I saw a lot of black guys participating in the Great Outdoor games. Or, maybe the fact that "white" people aren't actually the colour white, and there wasn't any real need to introduce a tan colour into the colour palette. Not that I'm saying it looks good, mind you, just trying to think of other reasons other than your one-note conspiracy theory. slapshot Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 I think he's the long lost brother of the New Mexico State Aggie guy Back-to-Back Fatal Forty Champion 2015 & 2016
sacker12 Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 That wordmark has that style font that looks too much like Arizona's.
RedEye Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 Northern Arizona University unveiled their logos.I created my vision for them and sent it along...but Phoenix Design Works already had the job I guess. What do you guys think...aside from a few color modifications I would have had to make...how does mine compare? The official new logosAnd Mine
