(Did they really have a number on the pants? I don't remember that at all. How awful!)

I remember the White Sox having the number on the pants of the S-O-X softball type uniforms worn in the early to mid 80's. However, I don't remeber the number being on the pants when they wore the Campbell's soup "C" hats with the White Sox or Chicago script.

The White Sox kept the number on the pants when the switched to the more traditional uniforms in 1987. However, they took the number off the following year and rolled with just plain white and gray uniform pants through 1990. I always kind of liked that look of the numbered pants myself, it's different.

Yeah, I really don't mind it either. Actually, it is easier to see the number there than on the jersey where the arms and glove get in the way.
