White helmets and jerseys not matching

landfill

I'm sure I am not the only one to notice that white helmets are not matching the jerseys for some teams. For example, Arizona Cardinals and BC Lions. Is there a reason for this? Can they not make the helmet colour white instead of cream?

It's just different material and different light reflection. The helmets are indeed white, not cream, and every team that has a white helmet has a problem with it, especially at night. PANTONE knows the exact answer.

but it seems lthat teams like the Titans can make the helmets and jerseys match a little bit better. Is that because they have more of that metallic flake in the shell?

I guess so. Then again, I though Arizona had the metallic finish on their helmets, so... I have no idea :D

That's the problem - since you're trying to match two different types of material, what matches on television won't match on film won't match what you take with your digital camera won't match when you look at it in person under natural light won't match under artificial light.

It's easier for colors than for white - the difference in the whites just stands out more.

Only the Redskins a couple years ago, when they wore throwbacks for all home games.

The NFL prohibits "home" and "road" helmets. Fair enough - so much of the marketing of the NFL is done using graphics of the helmets. They want to keep it simple.

The Seahawks asked for permission when they launched their new scheme but were denied. The only reason Washington got away with it was because theirs was a throwback.

why do they deny it? I figure it would only make them more money

Not really- fans don't buy a lot of helmets, and there's a lot of NFL merchandise with helmet logos on them that would be impacted by a 2 helmet system.

You're always going to get a white helmet that doesn't match exactly. Look at these!

If you look hard you'll see it never matches EXACTLY but it's white so who cares?
