Murmansk Fightin' Jesuses

I'm sure some of you remember my post last year about my fantasy football team, the Murmansk Fightin' Jesuses... well, with another year, comes another concept for them. The logo remains largely unchanged, but the shades of brown and red have changed, as has the overall uniform design.

Home jersey:

Road jersey:

Alternate jersey:

Culpepper and Holt are 2 of my most important players... Kearse is probably by 3rd or 4th most valuable defensive lineman, but since he's my favorite NFL player, I put his name on the homes... I probably should have stuck with Grant, since he's my best defensive lineman on the roster, but I just love the Freak.

All 3 of these players were on the roster last season, as well... Gotta love keeper leagues.

also, if someone could possibly make a 3d-helmet for the jesuses, i'd be very greatful. I can never seem to get the curve to look quite right... but that's not important. I'm just here to show off my newly designed uniforms of the legendary Fightin' Jesuses.

any and all comments are welcome.

I think you should incorporate something into the M sleeve patch. Perhaps a cross or something else religious.

i've toyed with it, but decided against it...

i know it's going to sound silly coming from someone who named their team the jesuses, but i'm sorta walking a thin line on all of this :)

making a logo based on a historical figure with religious connotations is one thing... but actually using religious symbols in a joking manner seems to be too far for me...

everything i designed for a secondary seemed too sacreligious even for me :)

so i decided to keep the collegiate M logo, since the first uniforms i ever designed for the team were from when i created my team in madden a few years ago... and since i played on xbox, i was stuck with alphabetical logos.

the M looked nice in brown and red, so i've kept it almost as a throwback to old times :)

Here's a thought... maybe you can put the M on the Holy Grail. That shouldn't be too offensive. Besides, I'm Catholic, and I don't find these offensive at all.

Dude, that's not even funny.

What isn't? The fact there are millions of templates, or the prospect of Jesus fighting?

C'mon, man, lighten up. I don't find this offensive at all....and I'm Lutheran!

Nice to see that there are still people out there that aren't offended by little things.

Plus, I'm part Native American, and I'm not offended at all by most Native American mascots (well, with the exception of Chief Wahoo, but that's left for another day).

wheateater, I'm also Lutheran, and I am offended.

And I'm not even Missouri Synod or Wisconsin Synod.

BTW, my church is Missouri Synod...

But I guess everyone's free to make his own decision on the subject. I can see how it can be perceived to be blatantly disrespectful (dare I say blasphemous?), but there's a point where it should be apparent that no harm is meant in a design such as this. Cole's just having a little fun. It would probably be worse if this portayal of Jesus contained a switchblade or a pistol or something, but the logo is vague enough to allow the viewer to draw his own conclusion about what kind of "fighting" this Jesus is doing. Perhaps it refers to Jesus battling Satan, or maybe it's meant to emphasize Jesus' strength and perseverance. Or maybe it's just a silly name for a fantasy team based on Notre Dame's Fighting Irish moniker to indicate the team's playing nature, I don't know. While combining the term "Fighting" with "Jesuses" could produce some very volatile results, I think Cole's work is done tastefully and respectfully enough for even the most devout and defensive Christian to appreciate the effort.

thank you very much. that's exactly what i'm going for.

jesus isn't fighting a war, or fighting in a gang, or anything like that. it's the generic sports "fightin'"... jesus is fighting for every yard, almost. :)

it's very silly, and not meant to be offensive in the slightest.

and in my defense, i don't see how this is any different than naming a team the Devils... so duke and new jersey should be considered offensive as well... unless of course it's the "fightin'" part, and just being the Murmansk Jesuses would be more acceptable? if that's the case, then i'm baffled.

Aren't you one of the people that's the quickest to complain about peple wanting to change "offensive" wordmarks?

Since the singular form of the word is Jesus, shouldn't it be the Fightin' Jesi?

Dr. Kelso: My son is a big baseball fan. Not so much playing it, but more the designing and sewing of uniforms.

Tyler: That's neat.

Dr. Kelso: No, it's not.

Jesus is already the most exploited person in the history of mankind, so why not have Jesus on a football jersey? Look at all the items that have an image of Jesus

If you think it's OK for sports teams to use native American, but then say it's not OK to put Jesus on a football jersey, then you are a hypocrite.

I saw, I came, I left.
