Detroit Tigers Jersey Question

I found this OLD jersey in my basement and its a white jersey with black piping and says TIGERS on the front in cursive with a #2 below the ERS. I'm wondering if the Detroit Tigers ever wore a white jersey that read TIGERS on it, because I want to know if this is a Detroit jersey or some weird kids team jersey. Thanks alot to anyone who can help. BTW, if needed, I could post pics.

It's not a Detroit Tigers jersey. The only one they wore with "Tigers" on the front lacked the piping you describe:

1960 Tigers uniform

Oh, cuz this is what I have.... and it doesn't look anything like that one...

So I'm assuming its a REALLLLLLY bad replica or just something else completly.

Actually, in the early 1960s, they would make special kids' uniforms that looked somewhat like the real uniforms, but didn't go the whole nine yards. I don't know if the teams or Major League Baseball made any money off them, but there were replicas around.

So do you think this could be one of them?

Like you said, the colors are black and white, so they may not have even intentionally tried to resemble the Detroit Tigers. Also, the script font is more generic than what the pros wore in the '50s and '60s, and it's close enough to look like it should be on a baseball jersey without looking that close to the script the Tigers wore that one year.

Does anyone in your family claim the jersey, or could approximate its age? My guess is a Little League or Babe Ruth league jersey, back before jerseys were heat-pressed and made of synthetic fibers to make them more cost-effective. Maybe someone has pictures of the person in the jersey. I'd had loved to play Little League in flannels with embroidery.
