Spearhead
I don't know if you can call this a font or a typeface but thse letter styles inside football-like ovals used to be a popular helmet decals in the 1960s and 70s:Does anyone know if there is a name for these, where I might be able to get some for graphic use, anything? Thanks. RamblinGamblinTiger
they still are pretty popular among local high schools...i dont know if they have a name or not, i just assumed it was a random letter fit into an oval trying to look like Green Bay or Georgia.... adrianb
I do not know if it is actually a type face or what not but I have been able to recreate the effect by using envelope tools on Corel Draw and Serif Draw, and then adding a oval or football shape later. I hope that helps Helmet Archive
Spearhead
Adrianb: thanks for that.If you look closely at the helmet with the green P, the left and right ends of the decal have little indentions that give them more of a football shape. bulldogbarks55
Go to sportdecals.com and request a free catalog. They make all types of decals, numbers and award stickers for helmets. The full alphabet is shown in the style you want. I think it's black and white but should scan OK. No charge for the catalog, which you can order on line, and they're really nice people.
