It was a shame that Youppi! was unattached for 10 months but he will be embraced by everyone in Montreal and all Habs fans, even most NHL fans. Suigi Posted September 19, 2005 Share Posted September 19, 2005 This is a good signing for the Canadiens.They've been lacking in depth at the Mascot position for years, especially after Guy Lafleur left (God Bless You, Guy).That being said, he's up against some tough competition in the Northeast Division.Spartacat (OTT) will likely be a little riled that his shaggy mane has some competition in the orange-fuzz department, Blades (BOS) has been known to EAT things that look similar to Youppi, Sabretooth (BUF) will likely snap a few left-handed slapshots at Youppi to give the rookie a few indents...And let's not forget about the most obvious rival: Carlton the Bear (TOR). That maple-leaf maniac is not above bodychecking opposing rivals into the benches, despite his cuddly appearance.And since Ace of the Toronto Blue Jays won't be doing anything come October 5th...this could result in a nasty 2-on-1 situation.
