We are possible witnessing what could possibly be

As long as Rachel Phelps doesn't try to destroy the Indians confidence with a pep talk of her own, this could be interesting. If the Indians do this, this ranks up there with one of the greatest comebacks in professional sports history.

And the Yankees will no longer be known as the biggest chokers in recent history. At least to the world outside of Boston and NY. And in my eyes. I will roast on the Yankees forever for what they did. :D

White Sox 8 Detroit 2

Tampa Bay 1 Cleveland 0

Guess who's playing spoiler? Tampa Bay :D Chicago now has a three game lead in AL Central. It looks more likely that there won't be White Sox collapse

Toronto 7 Boston 2

New York Yankees 2 Baltimore 1

New York now has a one game lead in the AL East

Boston and Clevleland now tied for AL Wild Card

The Indians are now officially playing for the wildcard. They're 3 back in the central with 4 to play. They are still mathematically alive for the division but that's about it. Mathematically alive is the same thing as your girlfriend saying she wants to see other people. It may not be officially over but it's over.

Side note to Moose: How's my theory holding up so far? :D

Yep, them White Sox sho did avoid looking like idoits...for at least another week.

Hopefully, Cleveland can squeeze in with the Wild Card to avoid more Yanks/Sawks :censored: in the playoffs.

The White Sox just beat Detroit to win the AL Central.

So much for the greatest collapse in MLB history.

Now wait a second. All the White Sox did was clinch a playoff berth. The Indians win their next four, and they have a one game playoff for the division.

The White Sox won the most head-to-head meetings between Chisox and the Tribe

and so they would go into the playoffs ahead of the Indians

I don't think head to head is a tiebreaking statistic. In fact, I know its not.

Actually it is. If the Indians and White Sox end up tied then the Sox win the division and the Indians get the wildcard based on head to head records. The reason has something to with the fact that Boston can't tie the Indians at 96 wins. It would take the Indians 96 wins to tie the White Sox. It's fully explained at espn.com.

If the White Sox (96-63) get swept in their three-game series against the Indians (93-66)?? They'll both finish with a record of 96-66 and force a one-game playoff since there is no tiebreaker, right? So how are the White Sox AL Central Champions as of today?? Looks like ESPN is wrong once again. <_<

Well somebody better tell the White Sox webmaster and Major League Baseball because they also think the White Sox clinched today.
