Jigga
You can make all the sleek, dynamic, Xtreme logos you want, the stuff is still called "Mountain Dew."WTF kind of name for a drink is that? What was going on in the marketing meeting when they rolled this stuff out? I realize there comes a point in a products life cycle where the name becomes representative of the product and not the literal, but...Maybe that's why they need cutting edge logos. Still partial to this one myself:"It'll tickle your innards!"In keeping with the marketing "genius" that BBTV brough up, that's gotta be the single greatest tagline in the history of American advertising! Or not. On January 16, 2013 at 3:49 PM, NJTank said: Btw this is old hat for Notre Dame. Knits Rockne made up George Tip's death bed speech. winters in buffalo
Woah, how long has Mountain dew been around? I only remember it being around starting in the early to mid 90s but if this is a real ad, than im way off Yup, you're waaaaay off. The Dew has been around since the 1940s. Slickster
Personally, I'd just change the name to 'Dew' and get it over with. No one remembers the fact that it's named for a folk song (and that doesn't fit with the demo they're marketing to, anyway).

I believe it was started in the NE TN/ SW VA area where shine was pretty popular (and actually still is), and Mountain Dew was another name for shine. VitaminD
MDX is the same as regular Mountain Dew just more expensive, more caffeine, and a new name. MDX?Isn't Acura's SUV called the MDX? Do we really need sodas and cars sharing names? Or is the ADD pandemic that out of control that we have to use initials to describe our beverages, and we don't have time to pronounce "Mountain Dew X-Treme"? "Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17. I was playing hockey the other day, and some kid said he needed that stuff(he said DMX, so I thought, why do you need a Ruff Ryder?). HE explained to me what it was, but I still didn't see the point. Do you really need something with a load of caffiene to function? I was still halfway under the influence of nyquil and I managed to play drinking only Gatorade.
