Hey all, we are just a week into the 2005 MLB Playoffs and we have seen some great games so far and I was just thinking back on the regular season and I thought about sharing the best & worst games in the regular season and see what yours are

My favorite game of '05: June 21st in the Bronx, Yankees 20, Devil Rays 11

The best high scoring game I've ever seen and what a Yankee comeback to score 13 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning, something that has'nt been done in the modern era. I give it to the D-Rays to taking it to the Yanks this year.

My worst game in '05: September 16th in Toronto, Yankees vs. Blue Jays when Unit got thrown out for no reason by an ultra sensitve umpire.

Satan Lives! The Devil On Earth Breathes! -Jim Ross about Vince McMahon, WM 22

"THAT WAS THE WORD OF YANKEEMAN"

26 World Championships and still going strong. Get used to it Red Sox Nation!

"Yankees win! Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankees win!" -John Sterling after every Yankee win

Why are you still crying about that 9/16 game? DUDE...YOU FLUFFING WON THE FLUFFING GAME ANYWAYS!!!! Quit squirting the tears over it and move along with your life, please...

Anyways...Favorite game this year would be the lone MLB game I was able to attend...7/23 Padres @ Phillies....a beautiful day in South Philly at Citizens Bank. Chase Utley put one out a section over from where I was sitting in RF and Robinson Tejeda had a pretty decent outing, and even managed to help his own cause with a triple (punctuated by probably one of the ugliest slides in the history of baseball into 3rd  )...

Worst game: Too many to choose from...be it a disasterous Mets loss (plenty of those) or a Yanks win puncutated by John Sterling getting much too happy behind the mic (WAY too many of those).

FANTASY TEAMS

Housatonic U. Dragons (NCFA Basketball): 16-6 (8-4 Conf.)--National Runner-Up

Jersey State U. (NCFA Football): Inaugural Year - 2006

Motor City Silverhawks (WArFL): 9-4 (3rd--National Conf.)

Lehigh Valley Ironmen (WAmFL): Inaugural Season--2006

New England Marauders RFC (RLI): 6-0-7 (6th place)

Detroit Spirit (AA): 3-6 (T-4th--Patriot League)

Brooklyn Atlantics (IBF): 10-5 (1st--Appalachian Conf.)

Boston Mariners RFU (WRU): Coming Soon!

New York Americans (SHL): Inaugural Season - 2006-07

The most satisfying games I attended were:

April 9 - Blue Jays 12, Red Sox 5... Boomer gets shelled, Zaun hits a grand slam

Aug 6 - Blue Jays 8, Yankees 5... Randy Johnson gets shelled :) Gets beat by Scott Downs!

In terms of pure excitement:

Aug 10 - Blue Jays 4, Tigers 3... Hudson ends the game with a walk-off homer

Sep 12 - Red Sox 6, Blue Jays 5 (11)... Jays rally from down 5-0 only to lose via a Ortiz 11th inning blast

Sep 16 - Yankees 11, Blue Jays 10... Johnson tossed, Jays almost come back from down 11-3

Sep 21 - Mariners 3, Blue Jays 2... 19-year-old Felix Hernandez throws 7 innings of no-hit ball

Some great baseball this year!

I have MLB extra innings so I saw a bunch. Hard to pick a best regular season game. My favorite regular season game was probably a comeback the Cardinals had against Cincy. They were down by 6 or 7 (?) on in the 9th on the road and came back to win. Don't remember all the details but it was the one that immediately came to mind.

My favorite game overall this season happened yesterday. White Sox 5 Red Sox 3. Wasn't great but it got the job done. El Duque was a straight up mother. :D

Best game: Twins only get 1 hit, and it's a solo shot by Jacque Jones! 1-0 Twins over the White Sox in a game filled with GREAT defense and GREAT pitching.

Worst game: Twins get 13 hits, as well as 16 baserunners, and fail to score a run in a 1-0 loss to the Royals.

My last game ever at Busch. Cardinals vs. Giants August 19, 2005.

Mike Matheney's first game back to St. Louis and we gave him a huge ovation. Carp started and looked ok, scattered 4 runs and 9 hits. With the score 2-0 giants in the 9th, Carp took the mound to hold the Giants, but allowed 3 straight hits and 2 runs to make the cardinals down 4-0.

So, about 10,000 people left the game, but they missed teh best game I'd seen live in my life. John Mabry double. So Taguchi Single. Then Molina hit a 3-run homer to make it 4-3.

Then John Rodriguez hit a single. Eckstein sacrificed, Nunez singled to give runners on the corners. Pujols popped out and then Edmonds hit a bases clearing double to win it and we all went crazy. Cardinals 5, Giants 4.

Awesome game.

YOU ALL ARE MORE BIASED THAN JOE BUCK!

These forums are so boring because you all put no thought into debating what was the best/worst of the season.

As an unbiased Red Sox fan, here is what had to be the BEST highlight games of the season.

August 11th... ANGELS v A'S (4-5).... when the A's won on the wild pitch thrown by the catcher back to K-Rod in the bottom of the 9th

August 11....MARLINS v DIAMONDBACKS (10-5).... Baseball's hidden-ball trick, when executed successfully, requires a good bit of acting. Which is why Marlins pitcher Todd Jones might demand an Academy Award for his supporting role in Wednesday's 10-5 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Mike Lowell, with the ball hidden inside the webbing of his glove, shocked the Diamondbacks' Luis Terrero by tagging him out at third when the baserunner thought the ball was in Jones' hands.

Any YANKEES vs. DEVIL RAYS game... Proving that $29 million well spent dollars is better than $208 million dollars

Sorry... but most of the games I attend happen to be Blue Jays games... if you don't like it give us back the Expos :P:flagcanada:

Nope, they're ours now!

4th of July, Yankees vs Orioles. Good game, especially by Jason Giambi who hit two home runs. The Yanks came back from down a few runs to win it. It was also my first game at Yankee Stadium. The only problem, im nowhere near a Yankees fan. Still fun though

How do you figure we're all biased? I listed two games neither of which involved my favorite team The Cleveland Indians. In fact one of the games I mentioned invloved a team that not only knocked my team out of the playoffs but is also considered a rival. How am I biased?

Anyway, I also watched that Giants/Cards game August 19 that pcgd posted. That was another great game. There are just too many to cover them all. I highly recommend MLB Extra Innings. :D
