brinkeguthrie
Jags:Nicer helmets with maybe gold or teal facemasks? Thoughts?Bengals:(and I was a 27 year resident of the Queen City):Scrap the whole thing and go back to the 70's basics. The current look is waay over the top. Ben5
Bengals can't have that helmet. Looks too much like the Browns on TV. And no one wants that, right?
tommytimp
Then make it black with an orange stripe, and add the tiger for the logo. Looks too much like the Browns helmet? I don't know how much more different the Bengals can get. Why should the Bengals be the ones to change helmets when the Browns are the ones with the ugly ones? The Bengals will NEVER change their helmets. They are original and I think the best looking helmets in the the league. I know a lot of people disagree with that, but I like originality. I just realized tonight how ugly the Jags' logo is!

I just realized tonight how ugly the Jags' logo is! Yes. I have never liked the Jags helmet logo. The cincy tiger striped helmet has stood the test of time and is unique. It is much better than "Bengals" on an orange helmet. Although, I would like to see someone do a black bengals helmet with some sort of logo on the side. Sorry, random thoughts taking over here. brinkeguthrie
The Bengals coach had a new helmet done up for him only, a reverse of what they have. Black Helmet, orange stripes.Wonder why teams dont go to home and away helmets? The cost? The varied fit?
In 5..4..3..2..1
The NFL does'nt allow it. The Seahawks were considering it when they were making their latest uniform and logo change. They were going to have the silver one at home and the seahawks blue one on the road but the league said no.
Brian in Boston
I just realized tonight how ugly the Jags' logo is!To each their own. In my opinion, the Jaguars' helmet logo is the best in all of professional sports.
Gothamite
I hate that "Hairball kitty" logo. Anyone who's ever owned a cat knows exactly what it means when he makes that face.... Shame, too, because the Jags have great uniforms other than that. I like the color scheme (even though it's somewhat dated now), and the secondary full-jaguar logo on the sleeve is sharp. The League only allows alternate helmets when they're part of a throwback uniform. Other than that, each team gets one design.I think the League's right on this one. Unlike any other sport, football helmets are the defining symbols of the teams (when was the last time a baseball game was covered in a paper with drawings of the caps?). The NFL is extremely brand-conscious, and wants to keep the branding clear. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
In 5..4..3..2..1
I don't mind the Jags logo and I have some other opinions on their uni's in the other Jags thread .I'll paste them over here in a minute.
In 5..4..3..2..1
On that note I was thinking the Jags should stick with using teal more. Teal jerseys white pants at home and break out those never before used teal pants with the white jerseys on the road. One minor change would be to make the home white pants stripeless to match the road teal ones with just the Jaguar logo on each hip. Any thoughts? By the way you can still sell the black jerseys as fashion jerseys just don't wear that crap on the field.
In 5..4..3..2..1
What the hell is the deal with the Bengals one week they wear the black pants white shirts with the orange sock then the next road game they are wearing the black sock with the same combo. Return of the leotard look? Why? They fixed it by wearing the orange sock

The Browns' helmet is just as original, because I don't see other teams wearing it. I agree, though, that the Bengals helmets are very nice, and should not ever change, but the Browns' helmets are far from ugly. In 5..4..3..2..1
Shaftdu I did mention that and it drives me crazy they did that lat year against the Pats in all black and they did it in the preseason against the Redskins in all black. But it was the first time they went black socks and pants with white jerseys. LIKE I SAID BEFORE THEY PREVENTED THE UGLY UNITARD LOOK WITH THE ORANGE SOCKS AND HAVE SINCE SAID THEY WOULD USE THE ORANGE SOCKS WHEN WEARING ALL BLACK AS WELL ...SO WHY THE CHANGE LAST NIGHT ? If you ever see them on NFL Films, you'll know what I mean. That's why they changed them in the first place. I love the current helmets they have now. I also love the jerseys, but I guess that puts me in limited company.
hormone
The LEAST the Bengals could have done last night was wear orange socks to that garbage they call a uniform.
pflava
The Bengals previous uniform set was perfect, and the best they've ever had. Sorry, but the "BENGALS" helmet sucked, and the uniform that went with it was completely generic.
