Well, this will be another playoffs no one watches.

Without Yankees/Red Sox, who cares?

Everyone not located in the New York/New England region!

These ratings are going to be awful.. i'll bet anyone.

What do you care about ratings?? You think they're gonna yank baseball off tv or something?? :therock:

Point is, no one will watch... you'll have your pockets of interest, but nationally, no one will care. It'll look like 2003 hockey ratings...

Typical bitter Yankees fan.

Let's go Halos!

well what can you say they're Yankee Fans, most believe Steinbrenner is the second coming of Jesus

I couldn't give a rat's @$$ about ratings on a national level. I'll watch a good game, teams be damned. White Sox/Angels should make for good baseball, as will Cards/Astros. I don't have any feelings for or against any team left. And while I am neither a Yankee fan (Mom and my wife are both Yanks fans) or a hater, I am glad I don't have to sit through two weeks more of Yankee/Red Sox hoopla and hysteria. Ditto waiting around for the Braves' annual October demise.

PLAY BALL!

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

Is anyone else getting really tired of teams finding any reason to crack open the Champagne bottles? For winning the World Series its ok and even the Pennant but for the first round of the playoffs? Come on, gimmie a break. It used to be teams won the first round and started thinking about the LCS but this year i saw every team do the stupid Champagne spray after getting the win. At this rate were gonna soon see teams pop open the bubbly and spray it all over the club house after winning game one of a double header in mid May. <_<

Oh, and by the way... Chicago and LA... aren't those two of the biggest broadcast markets in the country? Granted, BOS/NYY grabs more casual fans, but its not like LAA/CWS is gonna tank or anything.

Too bad that both of those teams are second fiddle in their own markets. Now if it was the Cubs...

Go White Sox!

The LDS doesn't really bother me, but they BETTER do it for the LCS...shouldn't just be a maybe.

Winning the LCS is winning the pennant. I wish that hadn't lost so much of it's value...maybe the leagues are too streamlined, maybe it's interleague play (probably), but the pennant used to be something big, then you went on to see if you could do it one better.

Just doesn't seem that way anymore.

(Yep...I can't actually remember the pennant meaning something, but I know my history to the point where I feel I've experienced some, and it definatley did mean something.)

Here comes the house cleaning I think some heads will roll now, donbt be shocked of Torre is fired or resigns, and expect Cashman to be fired.

Don't forget Bernie. He's played his last game as a Yankee. You can probably kiss half the starting rotation goodbye too, as it is every year for the Yanks.

Just to piggy-back on this sentiment, I hope Kenny Mayne reprises his piece he did during spring training on how there are 4-year olds in this country that have never seen the Yankees win a World Series in their lifetimes.

Now it'll be 5-year olds who, if the Yankees take it in '06, can then graduate to first grade in peace ...

As for bitter Yankee fan, lighten up ... gotta take the lumps along with the shine.

Typical Yankees fan. They think sports are about liking only teams that win.

Yankee fans usually like the Lakers, Patriots and Red Wings too. Any team that wins.

Now that's being a loyal sports fan!

I just can't find myself rooting for the Yankees for a few reasons:

1. There is nothing aesthetically attractive or pleasing about their uniforms or identity at all.

2. They've won so many championships so frequently that, even if I were a Yankees fan, there just wouldn't be that much excitement to winning it. The Yankees are never the underdog. When your team is expected to win, it doesn't seem thrilling when you do win it. Nobody outside of NYC and ESPN is impressed that it happens either. I also find that much of joy that Yankees fans have in winning the championship is the mere fact that their rivals didn't win it that year.

3. The fact that they've won so much and pretty much everything you can think of, it's obvious that they'll win pretty much any argument regarding baseball history. For this reason, it gives any casual baseball fan an easy copout to declare a favorite team as the one who has no historic faults against it (and whenever they do poorly, they use all these accolades as backup. Sure, any team is going to use that in any argument regarding their team, but the fact that you don't have to think very far to pull up something great goes to show that you don't need to know much about baseball to be a Yankees fan).

4. The fact that you are also the most hated fanbase in the league won't make you very many friends.
