heronfish
What is that weird patch of striped material in the armpit of the Tampa Bay Lightning Darks. Noticed it tonight against the Leafs.
Cujo
I dunno why it's there, but it's been there as long as I can remember.
Roger Clemente
They've been there since day one. They call them Victory Stripes..and everyone got a good look at them when they hoisted the Stanley Cup last year.--Roger "Time?" Clemente.
BBTV
It's the victory stripes, so named because you only see them when the players arms are raised in triumph.Pretty lame, in my humble opinion.
Neon_Matrix
According to Phil Esposito's book, he wanted them there so every time a player scores a goal and raises their arms in triamph, people will see them. It was supposed to be new and innovative. I'm shocked they have remained to this day, one of his long lasting legacy's.
Neon_Matrix
I've always wondered that? I guess now I have an answer.Neon-Matrix, why did you get rid of your bleeding Goalie sig? People didn't like it, so I changed it. I said when I first put it up in some thread that if anyone didn't like it, tell me and I'd change it. I like the brutal scene with Clinty boy, the game that spelled the end of a promising career...but I didn't want to offend anyone, so I changed it. mudbug33
it was also Espo's way of making sure the Replicas where the same as the Authentics in having the gussets on both which they did not do when Tampa was started.
