- Johnny Damon? Yankees will try to trade for Torii Hunter, with Milton Bradley a fallback plan. Cubs won't go after Damon, at least for not what they believe his price to be, so the question becomes the two Cali teams.

Yo do realize there are 5 cali teams, right?

^And out of those, I see very few that would, or really could, go after Damon. The A's don't have the money, the Dodgers spent 55 million on Drew and could get gunshy in a huge bidding war, the Giants had better worry more about their older team and their entire pitching core, the Mariners just shelled out two contracts for offense last year and the Padres, unless I'm mistaken, really can't afford him - but I'm likely way off there.

With all the Damon-Chicago talk, I thought that could happen, until I heard that the Chicago Tribune wants to sell the team. I can't see them adding a big contract to the payroll, especially Johnny Damon, who by himself isn't gonna turn everything around.

What always happens with hot Stove talk is that big moves like this are always affected by others. The Manny-to-Mets deal has been revived as of Monday, with the current proposal reading Mike Cameron, Lastings Milledge and Aaron Heilman/Yusmeiro Petit for Ramirez, no talk of money so far. If that goes through, Boston will have signed off on Damon leaving the team. I still believe there's a team outside of the Red Sox, Yankees and Cubs that's gonna jump in there outta nowhere and shake things up.

I'm having a difficult time seeing Konerko not remaining a White Sock - Reinsdorf had stated his commitment to keep the World Champs together as much as possible.

I keep hearing Furcal to the Cubs, but let's not forget the Mets made the initial courting moves. It doesn't sound like there's a chance of him returning to Atlanta.

I can at least confirm that the Angels won't pursue Washburn with any vigor, so the chance of him going to Milwaukee is as good as any(I wanna say I heard another name going to pitch alongside Sheets, but I can't remember who).

Carlos Degado wants to be a Marlin. He asked the team to confirm his status as a Marlin. GM Larrry Beinfest's response: No comment.

The Phillies' attempt to move Jim Thome isn't running at full steam yet, but I think it'll pick up as November moves forward.

There's a ton of stuff on the wires today, but for now, I'll just post the FA list(I'm gonna do it in a new post though)...

Rocco Baldelli has signed a six year, $33 million dollar contract with the Devil Rays. The first three years are guaranteed, while the remaining years are options. The entire contract is hedged to be reliant on plate appearances to preotect the Devil Rays from any further injuries to Baldelli. The entire deal is described in detail on MLB.com

The talk in Philly about Thome is that if there are no takers at the gm meetings they are going to wait till spring, showcase him during spring training and find a buyer.

My gut feeling on Wagner is that he is going to enjoy the free steak and lobster dinners and all the other perks of being a free agent, tease the Mets and however else, then resign with the Phillies.

I would also like to see the Phillies make a run for Washburn. Gillick already said he is not going after a one, a la Burnett, but a 2 or 3. Washburn is a proven winner, eats innings, a solid lefty (to replace Wolfie) and would be a sound #3 behind Myers (who will be a monster ace next year) & Leiber and ahead of Lidle & Madson/Floyd.

Dr. Kelso: My son is a big baseball fan. Not so much playing it, but more the designing and sewing of uniforms.

Tyler: That's neat.

Dr. Kelso: No, it's not.

Jim Thome,

David Bell,

and one of Pat Burrell or Bobby Abreu are being shopped by the Phillies.

Take your pick.

Please.

Is there an 'all of the above' option? Also, which Molina are the Mets looking at? I'm an Angels and Cards fan, so either way it's a loss. Jarrod Washburn can go to the Brewers, I'm not a big fan of him anyways. Biran Giles would be a nice addition to the Cards with Larry Walker probably retiring. Taguchi's not bad, but it'd be nice to have another impressive bat in the lineup, although Giles didn't have the year anyone expected this year. Also, I'd honestly like to see J.T. Snow back in Anaheim, just to finish out his career technically started(yes, I know he was drafted as a Yankee, but he played the majority of the beginning his career in Anaheim)

I hope that next season is Myers' time to break through. He started to this year, but still didn't assume that ace role. If (a big if) Myers can assert himself as a number 1, Lieber would be a very good (not great) #2, then Washburn, Lidle (although I think they can upgrade here), and Floyd. Madsen is just too good in the bullpen (at least for the first 3/4 of a season) I might leave him there, until one of either Lidle or Floyd falters.

There has been talk that Cole Hammels could push for a spot on the staff, which might bump Floyd or Lidle to the 'pen. I guess it all depends on who they add.

And that Koskie for Morneau talk is bunk. That's an idiot's deal.

Well then it would suit the Twins perfectly, wouldn't it?

It's an old rumour, from early October, but I recall it coming from a credible source. So go bunk yourself.

Sorry, I did have something about the Angels too - Damon would be a fit, but they need to decide Finley's fate first.

The reason I think Myers will step up is because the stuff is obviously there, his performance on the road has been great (3.09 era), but his confidence has been lacking at home. I think he had a good year this year and I think he is maturing, combined with moving the wall back in left will give him that confidence. I see it all finally coming together next year.
