Where does everyone think Konerko will go, if anywhere?

Edit* -- 100th reply to the topic....woot.

Well, as an Angels fan, I'd love to see another big bat in the lineup especially with the amount of injuries this past season. However, Darin Erstad is my favorite player, and it would literally kill me to see him lose his spot on the field. If Konerko comes and takes over first, Erstad better go back in the OF, especially with the stellar sub-.220 season by Steve "Retire Already" Finley. Incidentally, Chone Figgins is the man.

Also, I kinda like the O's. They're not one of my favorites, but I've been to several O's games. It'd be nice to see them as a contender again.

Right. The Orioles are goin after Konerko. Cause...well, all Baltimore needs is more offense. Not pitching or anything.

haha, true. Considering I went to a few home games this year and still can't name a single pitched other than Ponson and Ryan. Considering they have neither now, that's kind of a bad thing.

However I hope they get him, the Jays are looking close to becoming a contender.

I dunno about that. everyone felt that about the Orioles last year and whred that get them?

First place for more than half the season.

True, though, I guess they maybe slipped just a tiny a little bit toward the end  .

The Orioles had no foundation in place -- the Blue Jays have been building slowly for the past four seasons, putting pieces into place for a run in 2006.

We have also finished ahead of the Orioles in 7 of the last 8 seasons.

Actually, we offered Paul Byrd 2 years with an option, and according to Jim Duquette are willing to overpay for Kevin Millwood and/or A.J. Burnett and have made offers to both. Don't go making assumptions now guy.

2006 isn't our year anyway. I like 2007 and 2008, with Markakis, Majewski, Penn, Loewen, Ray, and maybe even Nolan Reimold and Garrett Olson coming up and providing the team with a spark.

Oh, and another thing. The Blue Jays have further proved that they are moronic by offering Brian Giles 5 years/$55 million.

Phillies sign Abraham Nunez.

He was an outstanding sub for Rolen this year, and I really hate to see him go. I was hoping to see the Cardinals turn the reigns over to him at second if they don't resign Grudz.

Good pick up by the Phillies. Couldn't find the numbers, but it was a 2 year deal with a 2008 club option.

Edit: it was for 3 mil. While looking for this, I found a few other trade rumors involving the cardinals. Again, these are all rumors, but I've found them at more than one location so I felt them worth talking about.

Cardinals get: Luis Castillo

Marlins get: Jason Marquis

This could involve other players. This is the one involving the Marlins I heard the most. seems like the Cardinals could get more value out of Marquis (see below) I also heard a really rediculous one about Marquis, King and Reyes for Castillo and Cabera. Not even worth mentioning cause that'd be idiotic for the Marlins and they've already said they wouldn't give up Cabera or Willis.

Cardinals get: Ken Griffey Jr or Adam Dunn

Reds get: Jason Marquis

Either one makes sense for both clubs. I could see this getting done with the Cardinals adding a prospect for dunn or straight up for Griffey.

Cardinals get: Bobby Abreu

Phillies get: Anthony Reyes and others

Not very many details could be found, but I could see it happening. But I think they Cardinals are going to do everything they can to keep Reyes. After giving up Haren, this would reak of "gotta win it in 2006 or else..."

Cardinals signing AJ Burnett is still hot. His agent said a deal could be "one phone call away."

A small rumor about Milton Bradley coming to St. Louis surfaced in the Post-Dispatch. Mainly it listed the Cardinals as one of the "interested" teams

And this one seems stupid and worthless, but I've heard it more than once, and it was in the Post Dispatch.

Yankees get: Jim Edmonds

Cardinals get: Cano and Wang

I can't see this going down. Maybe the yankees 5 years ago, but they yankees are much smarter with young players these days.

Anyway, sorry they are all cardinals rumors. There's alot of buzz about something big coming through trade and free agent signing for the Cardinals. My bet is the Castillo, Abreu, or Reds trade and Burnett signing.

What's up with the Blue Jays and Cardinals being intrested in all the same players?? (minus Ryan)

I hope the Cards have a plan for second base.

I have heard Jocketty has conversations going on with the Phillies, Reds and Marlins too

It seems like they don't want Giles. Jacque Jones comes up a lot too.

It seems like Burnett is a possibility if they move Marquis and the Jays sign Giles

Don't know what he'll get from the Phillies if he's looking for infield help. We've got 3/4 of a talented young infield with Howard, Utley and Rollins. You want David Bell? He's yours. Beyond that, you're looking at our bench - Tomas Perez, Ramon Martinez, guys like that. We've got very little pitching, a shaky 'pen and slow, lumbering outfielders. Have at it! :P

And I love the Nunez signing. He filled in capably for Rolen last year. I like a little more pop from 3rd base, but so be it.

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

I have heard the Orioles are trying to make big improvments. They could have a huge offseason.

-I have heard Paul Byrd is all but signed

-I heard the same about Ramon Hernandez, he is only listening to other teams to get a better offer from the O's. (at least I think the wording from a source on a message board is a little unclear)

-Nomar is another player that the O's are going after hard.

-Eric Bedard is involved in a trade for Adam Dunn.

-Rodrigo Lopez is being shopped to Cincy also and Texas.
