ESKIN CLOSES CASKET ON T.O. ERA

WIP's Howard Eskin will lead a funeral that will serve as a ceremonial ending to Terrell Owens' career as a Philadelphia Eagle.

Fans are urged to show up at the WIP pre-game broadcast and deposit their T.O. jersey or T.O. memorabilia into a casket that will be placed at the front of the broadcast stage. Broadcast starts at 3p, funeral starts at 5:30. WIP pre-game broadcast takes place outside of the Wachovia Center's Cingular Pavilion.

There's been talk that the contents of the casket could be set on fire either outside the stadium, or even outside of Owens' house.

Burning holy symbols in front of a man's house. That would be super classy.

Not that something's okay just because Cleveland Browns fans do it - but were there not similar "funerals" for Cleveland's last game before the Browns were restore by expansion?

No, there was no talk about setting things ablaze in front of Art Modell's house, but still ...

You also have to love that naming rights to a portion of a building are now for sale. Next time I go down to the Wachovia Center, I hope to visit the Cingular Pavilion, just so I can take a leak in the Jimmy's Auto Parts urinal ...

those things aint cheap, good point. but as to why anyone would waste that kind of money for a t.o. jersey is beyond me.

You weren't here last year. Things were perfect, and everyone got swept up in it. Was it too good to be true? Yes. Should everyone have known better? Yes. But, TO was a model citizen for 19 out of 20 weeks last season, the team was blowing out everyone (except the one real loss vs. Pgh. and obviously the SB), and it was an incredible ride.

I never got a TO jersey, but I don't blame the people who did.

That being said, most people are just duct taping over the name-plate and writing their own creative names over it. I'd keep the jersey, carefully cut off the nameplate, and just wait for the next good #81 we get.

With all the good young receivers taking numbers under 20, you'd be better off just writing your own name in.

Oh, and I've got a site.

Well, the Eagles don't really draft receivers very high, so we won't really have to worry about that. We had a guy (Perez) where #17, but that was only in the preseason when the other 80 numbers were taken.

You don't see teen-receivers or 90's linebackers (Justin Ena being a half/season exception) in Philadelphia, at least not since the Harold Charmichael / John Bunting days (70s).

Didnt Ena wear #59?

Kirkland wore #93 I think

Ena changed from #59 to, I believe, #95. Either way, he's gone, and I didn't see that many Justin Ena jerseys that got screwed up because of it. Although it would've given me someone to put on the back of my #59, 'cuz wearing "MAMULA" in public makes people cry.

All those #81 jerseys could be retrofitted to "SMALL". Anyone interested, let me know - I can get you the M, A and one of the Ls... :therock:

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

Small was #80, Johnson was #81

Ena was 95, then switched to 59 after Burgess switched from 59 - 56 (after Barber left.)

If there's one thing I know, it's Eagles numbers.

You've obviously never visited Philadelphia during football season. Or, for that matter, the football off-season. This is par for the course.

And if you think Parcells would stomach one minute of T.O.'s crap, you're deluded. Good luck in Dallas as he poisons a 3rd team...
