Uniforms on Madden 360

Perfect Zero

Recommended Posts

First off, I am an old 2kFootball fan, and hearing all these bad reviews about Madden simply being a port gameplay wise is tough. To me, the game play is unrealistic. The graphics though might pull me through to buy a 360 Madden game...

That is until I was directed to the Madden Nation fourms this morning, and I learned that you could chose from two uniforms, regular home, and regular away. I also heard that create-a-team was not included this year with season or franchise mode.

For me, I like the San Diego Powder Blues and the 1994 Dallas uniforms (star on sholders=Best Cowboy Unis Ever!) I also like to create my own leagues, although in limited form, on the console. To me, this is a major upset.

I don't know if this has been ever dicused before, and I don't know if this is even in the right fourm, but I thought I would let you logo junkies know about this before you get the game.

Im hearing a LOT of big dissapointmentments with the X Box 360. They shouldnt have rushed the release date on this, it could have been so much better. The only thing that makes me happy about Sony waiting to release the PS3 is that theyre taking their time to make the system. Its got 11 processers, 11!!!! The X Box 360 has 1. When its released itll be better than any computer on the market, at least at this point.

Any Playstation product has always been better than any Xbox product. I dont care if you have to sacrifice a little here or there in the graphics, the Playstation product is just overall more enjoyable. You cant even hold the friggin Xbox controller its so damn big. Wait it out til the spring for PS3.

Wow, you must have small hands. But I'm going to buy a Playstation 3 when it comes out, and hopefully next years madden will be out by then.

I've already got the money saved up for the PS3, just to make sure I don't miss out, now I'll go reserve one at Game Stop when they start allowing us to in December. What I really hope is two things, one, that the games aren't anymore expensive than they are for the PS2, two, that they design controllers for the PS3 like the Dual Shock ones for the PS2 and make them available to buy seperately because those alien-like controllers obviously will be the standard.

Well if its any indication, games for the X Box 360 are 60 t0 70 bucks a piece

That does it. PS3 for me.

The new releases usually are good, but stink because people will buy it just because it's new and then next year's game will be bought because of "so much more" added to it.

This is just another reason not to buy ANY video game console at launch.

Well I am going to because then I can play my PS2 & PSX games again seeing as my PS2 is broke and I don't want to go get a new one when the PS3 will be out soon.

I wonder if the X-Box 360 will allow the play of regular X-Box games.

Xbox 360 is not worth the money. I'm not paying that much to get better graphics but lousy games. Make me better products and I'll ponder shelling out the dough. I've played perfect dark, it was lame, Madden looks great but I hear the graphics are about the only perk. I'm going to wait 2 years and decide what console I'm going to buy.

Wow, can you say fanboy?

But seriously, have you tried the 360/or the S controller? The S controller is quite a bit smaller then the original and the 360 controller is even smaller. The 360 has one of the best controllers I've ever used and is right up there with the dual shock. Either you haven't used it, your hands are tiny, or you just hate Microsoft.

Do they still have the generic nameplates on the backs of jerseys?

All I've seen in screenshots is NFL block. So no, but I wouldn't be suprised if EA got lazy and used NFL block for every team.

1st party games for the 360 are still 50. It's the 3rd party devs who are charging 60.

Yes, theres quite a few. Not all of the popular ones though, which kind of ticks me off. They say they will expand the list of compatible games through updates. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardco...tygameslist.htm

Lousy? The launch lineup is very solid. It isn't exactly spectacular, but really, no launch lineup has ever been spectacular.

Actually, not all that often, well now I should since I got a car. But I work from home and I don't have much to do during the week as most of my friends are either at school or work. So I spend a good 70% of my time at the house.

The 11 processors that you speak of that belong to the PS3 have little impact on the actual gameplay and graphics of the games on that system. Having all of those processors would be better for general computing as opposed to gaming. Anybody that is involved in making game systems would understand that its not the NUMBER of processors but the QUALITY and PERFORMANCE of the single processor, and what they will be used for.

check this out, its worth the read:

DETAILED ANALYSIS OF PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS

CPU

The Xbox 360 processor was designed to give game developers the power that they actually need, in an easy to use form. The Cell processor has impressive streaming floating-point power that is of limited use for games.

The majority of game code is a mixture of integer, floating-point, and vector math, with lots of branches and random memory accesses. This code is best handled by a general purpose CPU with a cache, branch predictor, and vector unit.

The Cell's seven DSPs (what Sony calls SPEs) have no cache, no direct access to memory, no branch predictor, and a different instruction set from the PS3's main CPU. They are not designed for or efficient at general purpose computing. DSPs are not appropriate for game programming.

Xbox 360 has three general purpose CPU cores. The Cell processor has only one.

Xbox 360's CPUs has vector processing power on each CPU core. Each Xbox 360 core has 128 vector registers per hardware thread, with a dot product instruction, and a shared 1-MB L2 cache. The Cell processor's vector processing power is mostly on the seven DSPs.

Dot products are critical to games because they are used in 3D math to calculate vector lengths, projections, transformations, and more. The Xbox 360 CPU has a dot product instruction, where other CPUs such as Cell must emulate dot product using multiple instructions.

Cell's streaming floating-point work is done on its seven DSP processors. Since geometry processing is moved to the GPU, the need for streaming floating-point work and other DSP style programming in games has dropped dramatically.

Just like with the PS2's Emotion Engine, with its missing L2 cache, the Cell is designed for a type of game programming that accounts for a minor percentage of processing time.

Sony's CPU is ideal for an environment where 12.5% of the work is general-purpose computing and 87.5% of the work is DSP calculations. That sort of mix makes sense for video playback or networked waveform analysis, but not for games. In fact, when analyzing real games one finds almost the opposite distribution of general purpose computing and DSP calculation requirements. A relatively small percentage of instructions are actually floating point. Of those instructions which are floating-point, very few involve processing continuous streams of numbers. Instead they are used in tasks like AI and path-finding, which require random access to memory and frequent branches, which the DSPs are ill-suited to.

Based on measurements of running next generation games, only ~10-30% of the instructions executed are floating point. The remainders of the instructions are load, store, integer, branch, etc. Even fewer of the instructions executed are streaming floating point?probably ~5-10%. Cell is optimized for streaming floating-point, with 87.5% of its cores good for streaming floating-point and nothing else.

Game programmers do not want to spread their code over eight processors, especially when seven of the processors are poorly suited for general purpose programming. Evenly distributing game code across eight processors is extremely difficult.

Yeah, the best time to buy a gaming system is the first price drop of it. Then all of the first generation games will have dropped in price, and most of the killer apps for systems are coming out at that time.

Yeah, and most of the 3rd party games that are coming out are $60, but nothing over that. I would guess that after a month or two those prices will drop to $50 anyway, so not a big deal.

As for next gerenation gaming, it's going to be a lot like this generation, all of the systems will be good, it just depends upon which system-exclusive games you want more.

EA's 06 series for XB360 is not going to be the best b/c they have had to build a whole game in about 1.5/2 years and they started without devo kits because microsoft didnt want any leaks with this said the PS3 and XB360 will have about the same core graphics (because nobody for the next 4 years at least will ever be able to use the full power of the PS3 because it is too hard to program for (that is why a lot of devolpers are only doing XB360 games) EA's 07 Sports series will be the ones that will have the mystique that all of you guys look for
