What is your most prized sports memorabilia?

Obviously, most of us here are avid sports fans. I thought it would be interesting for everyone to share what their favorite pieces of sports memoribilia are.

I guess I'll start:

I have a football that was autographed by Brett Favre and Bart Starr, and signed pics of Favre and Pat Swilling (N.O. Saints LB). A friend in California got me an LA Lakers calendar autographed by Rick Fox. I've also got a pretty cool collection of minor league baseballs that I have caught at various games-18 so far.

So what about y'all?

rather than name several in my collection, i'll just name my most prized...

and i'll probably get out-fancied by someone with something more expensive, but meh :)

my first ever hockey jersey was a mid 90's style dallas stars jersey, with derian hatcher's name and number on the back... a few months before he signed with the detroit red wings, i got a chance to meet him, and get him to autograph this jersey. now it's framed and hanging in my house. not game worn... just a replica... but it means a lot to me.

i've also got another autographed stars replica jersey... current style, white... autographed by modano, morrow, hedberg, daley, klemm, boucher, and guy carbonneau. i got those guys to sign it a free fan event right after the lockout ended. haven't framed it yet, but i'm planning.

- Leon Baker's boots from the 1984 and 1985 seasons, which were the years he played in Grand Finals (Now on loan to the AFL Hall of Fame)

- Game worn Long Sleeve #4 Leon Baker Essendon jumper

- Game worn sleeveless #10 Garry Foulds Essendon jumper

(My dad was the Property Steward)

- Signed photo of all 4 Daniher brothers on the day they set a record by having all 4 brothers play in the one team.

That's probably the best of them.

And most of you don't even have a clue what I'm talking about.

So to explain I've been offered $1,500 for the boots & $500 for the Foulds jumper.

So they're more than just sentimental.

Oh, and I've got a site.

Great topic!

My most prized piece is a replica NY Rangers Stanley Cup banner. My girlfriend bought it for me as a gift for our first Christmas together. It has no real value as a piece of memorabilia but to me it's special because of all the thought and effort she put into getting it.

My Mom bought me a personally autographed copy of Ball Four for Christmas a few years ago. Ball Four is my favorite sports book. My Mom is about as internet savvy as my cats are yet she managed to go to Jim Bouton's website and order the book for me. Again it was the thought that counted most.

Autographs...

I don't buy them or pay for signatures so you won't see many "big names." These are all baseballs, footballs, helmets etc. that I managed to get personally.

My most prized autographed stuff...

I have a media pass from Cleveland Browns radio affiliate day autographed by my favorite Brown Hanford Dixon. He was the nicest sports personality I have ever met.

My ticket stub from game 5 of the 1984 World Series is autographed by Sparky Anderson. Another really nice sports personality.

Baseballs, Footballs, Helmets

Bill Buckner (he signed it for me when he was a batting coach for the Syracuse Chiefs)

Jim Bouton

Dick Schafrath (former Brown and Buckeye offensive lineman)

Sandy Alomar Jr.

Charlie Manuel

Jim Thome

Steve Karsay

Jason Davis

Jim Bibby

Johnny Blanchard

Tito Francona

Tom Brown (Packers DB from Super Bowls I & II.)

Einar Diaz

David Bell

Herb Score

That's about it. :D

-Game-worn, autographed Jason Webster throwback 49ers jersey, worn on MNF in 2002. My favorite jersey.

-5x7 autographed pic of Steve Young, obtained by writing a letter to him through the mail. My favorite football player.

-My collection of over 1500 Steve Young football cards.

-A piece of Panthers autograph paper signed by Fred Lane, a few other players, Glen Rice and Bobby Phills. (Story behind this: I went to a Panthers team day thing back in, I think, 1998. A few Panthers were there signing autographs, and I got them all on a piece of autograph paper. Then, on the way back, we stopped at an Exxon for gas, and Glen Rice and Bobby Phills were there, putting gas in Glen Rice's black Mercedes. I also got both of them to sign my paper. Both Lane and Phills died in 2000. I don't imagine many other people have something signed by both of them, but I wouldn't sell it anyway.)

-All of my jerseys, somewhere around 40 now.

I've got several things I would nominate:

Autographed Water Payton items,

Game-Worn Bemidji State Univ. hockey jersey

Game-Worn Northern Michigan Univ. hockey jersey

Autographed hockey pucks

Game-Used Bemidji State Univ. football helmet

But, the thing I cherish the most I got this past spring after the last hockey season - Bemidji State won their conference, and conference tourney (see the pic in my sig). The team, upn making the NCAA tourney, took the defending national champs (and the team that would eventualy win the nat'l champ again that year) to OT - BSU was the only team to stay that close in tha Nat'l tourney. The team had plaques made up to commemorate the season, with the team photo, and pics of the two trophys (regular season and conf tourny champ trophys) on it. I do a radio show here in Bemidji about BSU hockey, and as a token of appreciation, the team had one of these plaques made up with my name on it... It's very special to me.

I have a ball autographed by the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers which is my most prized piece of sports memorabilia. I also have an autographed Willie Mays 8x10 on my wall which I got at the SF Giants fan fest in 2004 the thing I hate about it is even though he signed it in front of me, he did it in black sharpee (I prefer blue) but then again it was Willie Mays so it's all good.

A Brett Favre thrown Touchdown ball from training camp during a 1st Team O vs 1st Team D scrimmage. I caught it in Green Bay off of a Ryan Longwell PAT.
