footballfiji
Sad thing is they've played a similar card before:Spider-Man wore this costume in only one issue, Web Of Spider-Man #100, and one issue only....Peter created the armor to aid him in defeating the New Enforcers in that issue...It helped protect himself from Plant Man's mutant spores as well as from extreme temperature blasts wielded by Dragon Man, Eel, and Thermite...It hasn't been seen since that issue. Phat Kid
Well I know I am in the minority here but I kinda like it. I did not at first but it has grown on me. I don't know. Anyhow here is a pic done by Marvel's EIC Joe Q for the NY Comic con. Gives a lil better look:
Stampman
the old red & blue was a classic--not to be messed with...Unless you come up with something real cool, which that is not --oh wel, I haven't bought a Spidey comic for a few years--so go ahead change it--ust keep the movies having roots in the old comics... Cola
I just think that the new Spider Man outfit makes him look like a villian now instead of a hero. Just looks evil to me...not horrible looking but just a bad idea imo.
UnderDogX
I agree, he does look a bit evil...and it is kinda dumb..but...I mean obviously its just part of a story arc for the big Civil War that's supposed to start in the Marvel Universe (yeah yeah...i'm a bit of a comic geek) but I'm sure he'll go back to the red and blue when all is said and done...I mean hell the majority of people who read Spidey comics love the black suit over his read and blue and it still went back...It's like changing Supes or Batman's costume...slight color variations are allowed but no major overhauls will last! xnylived
Yeah the black suit was originally an alien symbiote that Spider-Man eventually removed and it went off and found a new host to become Venom, for a while after ditching the symbiote though Spidey wore a home-sewn version of the black costume and it has shown up once or twice since he went back to the red + blue in ASM #

UnderDogX
Yeah, the home sewn one was the one I was mentioning....I mean when the symbiote suit came about in Secret Wars people liked the change so much in fact that they did have Peter make a cloth one but as mention above he only wore it once or twice since then... TFoA
Here's a 3-D picture I found:I love this suit. I want him to go back to it. The storyline won't permit it, but dammit he should go back to it.

He actually wore the home made black suit for awhile--sometimes alternating with the red & blue. Then there was a "Where is Spider-Man" storyline throughout the Spidey titles and his last red & blue suit was destroyed. The Black Cat made several for him when they were a couple. He returned to the red & blue after Venom showed up with the Symbiote and freaked out MJ. She was already freaked out by it in the" Kraven's Last Hunt" story arc--again across all the Spidey Titles and the follow up story. This was somewhere just before issue #300 which as mentioned was the return of the red & blue. After Kraven apparently kills Spidey, he spends some time in the black suit & freaks out MJ way too much, and so when Spidey comes back he returns to the red & blues. (Pete & MJ were newlyweds at the time.)It was a great storyline.Anyway #300 was the late 80's--he got his black costume in 252 (the symbiote) but he ditched it in 258, and had the red & blues for again--so for 49 issues of Amazing and about the same number of his other titles SPidey had a black suit of some sort. So it was about 4 years in our time. Comic Sans walks into a bar, and the bartender says, "Sorry, we don't serve your type here."
