If I may offer an opinion.

The main table with all the text, make the margins bigger so the text doesn't look crammed into the borders, then make them left justified as opposed to centered. Then, take the underline off the years as the stark contrast between the colors clearly sets off the dates and the underline is sorta unnecessary.

The updates continue with the Islanders who have been a drift in abarren sea for more then a decade without winning a playoff series since 1993, and looking like an also ran again this year.

Before the lock out the NJ Devils symbolized the trap, not suprisiingly they strugged at the start of the season as they adjusted to the new rules without 2 key stars Scott Stevens and Scott Niedermayer. However, since Jnauary 1st they have been the hottest team in the NHL and appear to be back on track.

With Mario Lemieux now retired for good the Penguins can focus on the future with Sidney Corsby. However weatehr or not taht future is in Pittsburgh remains to be seen.

Before the lockout they were a dominat team in the west now they are on the playoff bubble as they celebrate a successful 10-year run that saw them put the NHL on the ma in Denver.

The Flames were bruning through the playoffs before the lockout falling 1 game short of the Stanley Cup, after the lockout they are in position to challenge again.

Before the lockout the Cnaucks were a Western Power hurt by the supension of Todd Bertuzzi in the playoffs.

After lockout they are just as strong.

The state of hockey was jumping in 2003 as the WIld made a suprise run to the Western Confernce Finals, but it was back to reality one year later as they missed the playoffs.

Now in their 5th year on the ice 6th year overall

Before the lockout they appeared heading for a long rebuilding project but the Hurricanes after stormed out of nowhere and have the best record in the NHL at the Olympic Break.

After the lock out the Caps are not much better but with Alexander Ovechekin they have the start of a foundation.

Before the Lock out the Panthers were a bad team with a good goalie as Roberto Luongo had a great season, but this year Luongo has struggled as have the Panthers.

Florida Panthers

Before the lockout the Thrashers were realing after the tragic accident that claimed the life of Dan Snyder and had Dany Heatley facing criminal charges.

After lockout HEatley is gone traded to Ottawa while the Thrashers are forced to shift the focus to Ilya Kovalchuk as they try to make teh playoffs for teh first time ever.
