FightinIrish11 Posted January 3, 2006 Share Posted January 3, 2006 ok, notre dame didnt play the way they've played all year in the fiesta bowl, but this time was a hell of a lot better than the 2001 debacle against oregon state. in any event, kudos to ohio state. but one thing that bothered me was the whole side plot with brady quinn's sister laura. many of you know that she is dating a.j. hawk of ohio state. well, the media loves creating news these days, so of course they blew this story way out of proportion. every other series they kept zooming in on her in the stands, and that stupid split jersey of hers. that made me sick. but seriously, they had the camera on her quite a bit tonite and it got pretty old. i also hated how ABC was trying to do everything they could to jynx notre dame by flashing that graphic on the screen with their "7 consecutive bowl losses." but anyway, if she holds onto a.j. hawk, i cant imagine what the holidays would be like at the quinn household in the coming years. She may be about the very best a guy who looks like Hawk can do until he gets NFL money but she's hardly Major League talent. I'd say she's Double A talent at best. spyboy1 Posted January 3, 2006 Share Posted January 3, 2006 ABC has always been known for going overboard with the "girlfriend/wife" shots, so I can't say I'm surprised to hear they were overdoing it.I can't tell you how many times the camera would be focused on the "nervous wife" shot during the last couple of laps of the Indy 500 instead of the battle for the lead. No one was more relieved when Michael Andretti divorced his first wife so I didn't have to see her anymore! Laura even got her photo in the Minneapolis paper today. Kinda reminds me of the Stanley Cup Finals a few years ago when they were always showing Martin Brodeur's and Patrick Roy's wives. Do they seriously need to cut away to show us hotties between plays to keep us tuned in?? I thought only Fox would stoop to these kinda levels. During the downtime (e.g., catcher throws ball back to Randy Johnson, Randy doesn't like it, throws it back, ump throws ball to Johnson, Randy approves, fondles the rosin bag, spits, adjusts his cup, toes the rubber, appears to be nearing windup but Nomar calls time, steps back, adjusts wrist thingy 29 times (you know, for the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald) steps back into the batter's box, digs in, is ready, and Randy winds up and it's ball one) the camera crew does it all the time. Full of lots and lots of money. Ill just put it this way. Lets say you were Mr. Quinn, your son is the top Hiesman candidate and guarenteed to go to the NFL and make millions. Your daughter is dating and possibly could marry a top college player who is guarenteed to go in the NFL draft and also make millions.
