Mike Felder Posted January 16, 2006 Share Posted January 16, 2006 Back in the fall of 1994, the Badgers wore a special jersey for the first game of the season against Colorado (I heard that the jerseys were supposed to be worn in the Rose Bowl the previous January but didn't arrive in time.). They were ugly jerseys, featuring the "W" on both shoulders and names on the back (which was a new thing at the time). Wisconsin only wore them for that one game, partially because people didn't like them, and partially because they lost the game about 98-3.Does anyone remember what I am talking about? And most importantly, does anyone have a picture of these jerseys? I've searched high and low and can't find one....any help would be greatly appreciated. I was a Junior at Wisconsin when they decided to copy the 49ers (3-D numbers) and Cowbows (big shoulder logo, different color sleeves) jerseys of the day. They were monstrosities. I went to the game, it was brutal. It was such a build up. They had beaten us in Boulder the year before. Plus, if I recall, 'Twas a rare night game. And they just whipped us.Some of the State Street stores sold them, Darrell Bevell's* #11 and Carl McCullough's #13.I doubt those jerseys were for the Rose Bowl because the 1994 season sent them to the Hall of Fame Bowl. I remember the joke after the game was that the jerseys were so ugly that they should burn them.....with the secondary still wearing them because they were torched so badly that game. PackerBadger Posted March 29, 2006 Share Posted March 29, 2006 And sucking on national TV no less (it was a 7 PM game on ABC).I think the jerseys were originally supposed to be used for the Hall of Fame Bowl (names were on the back, which Alvarez limited to bowl games at that time), but didn't get done because the company went bankrupt or something like that.I'm not sure from that picture and my memory if the numbers were shadowed like the 49ers or just outlined in black.
