It was all over the Super Bowl tonight.

I noticed it on all the Budweiser and Bud Light commercials (Please Drink Responsibly), on a few Super Bowl spots, and on a bunch of signs and other commercials.

My dad works in marketing and I've been pointing Copperplate out to my dad all the time lately. He can't believe it's so commonly used.

From my school, cut for length.

University typefaces

Like the words we use, the typeface we choose can have a

dramatic impact on how people perceive our message. The

shape of a letter has a connotative message that

communicates every bit as much as the word and sentence

that houses it. After exhaustive research into the many

options, we have chosen a set of three fonts to officially

represent the school. We placed function and flexibility

right along side the visual appeal of the typefaces.

copperplate 30bc

This is the official font for the name

"willamette university". Copperplate

has many minimal uses. Headlines,

subheads and quotes may be set in this

font. Do not use this font for large

amounts of text.

copperplate 30ab

This is the official font for the slogan.

"the first university in the west"

The above rules apply to this cut

of copperplate as well.

Typography

Copperplate 30bc is the offical font

of the Willamette name. It should

be typed in all lower case and

letterspaced approximately 13%. The

slogan should be Copperplate 30ab,

and run just under the width of the

school name, letterspaced at 5%.
