Which Fan Base Has it the Worst?

Being a Patriots fan this season was tough. Turning it over 5 times and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory? Watching someone win the Lombardi Trophy this season will be like watching someone else F*** your wife.

Being a Pistons fan was rough, too. Losing a heartbreaking game 7 of the Finals, and what with us having 5 games already.

If you're looking for sympathy on this thread, you're not gonna get it. I'm sure the pain of watching someone else f*** your wife this year is lessened by the fact that you've had her 3 of the last 4 years, while some teams wait for their first crack at her. And that 36-5 first half for the Pistons oughta soften the blow of losing in the Finals, so soon after winning the title the year before.

I hope you're not serious with this "woe is me" post, when there are fans who've literally waited a lifetime for just 1 championship as you sit there with 4 since 2001. Please tell us you're kidding...

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

The words patriots and pistons shouldn't even have come within a breath of this thread.

No sympathy, no condolences. You won 3 superbowls, and made the playoffs. This success doesn't appear to be ending. So please, no whining. The Pistons are a damn good team, and also have a title. They're also the favorites in the east this year too. Some people are just never happy.

You guys won 3 superbowls within the past 4 years {beating my beloved steelers to get there to} Its about time you guys tasted playoff defeat. Get over it.

Wanna know what's worse than not making it 4 Super Bowls in 5 years? ... is watching the man that was suppsed to lead your team to glory get up leave town without coaching a single game, only to lead your hated rivals to three Super Bowl titles while you while your team reverts back to being a laughing stock.

So you can please shut the hell up now. Thank you.

Its the Braves taht have the worst fans with all their Division Title they can not sell out a playoff game. There chant always seems to be based off the scoreboard, and they never trully get loud.

The whole city of Atlanta has patethic fans the Hawks and Thrashers are playing in empty arenas, and until the arrival of Vick the Falcons had trouble avoiding blackouts every week.

Maybe these teams are bad, but you dont hear complaiing about them being bad its as if their fans dont really care which is why I trully think they are the worst fans.

Jets fans whine and moan all the time Cubs fans are behind the Cubs 100% and the Saints fans are just troutuired reight now and should be given a break.

Ouuuuchhhh, that hurt.

Anyways, you're right though, most Atlanta fans (Hell, the majority) are frontrunners and bandwagoners. At any given sporting event in Atlanta, no matter how good our team is, it's going to be 50/50 between that team and the other team's fans. And yeah, we've gotten to the point with the Braves and Hawks that we really don't give a floop about what they do. The Thrashers and the Falcons have elicited excitement in the city, though.

Fans of any team that has won a national championship in the last 25 years, or even longer, can't be considered long-suffering fans. If they think they are long-suffering fans, then they are just jerks, which goes into another category.

Fans of any Cleveland team can definitely be considered long-suffering fans.

Detroit Lions fans aren't just long-suffering fans, but things seem to get worse and worse for them.

Having watched Super Bowl III, I still have a tough time calling Jets fans long-suffering, even though that game was 37 years ago (it just doesn't seem that long ago to me).

Cubs fans would have every reason to be considered long-suffering. But there's something about the Lovable Losers that makes them so ... well ... lovable. Things just wouldn't be right if the Cubs won the World Series, and I think even the most diehard of Cubs fans knows what I mean. That, of course, doesn't mean Cubs fans don't want their team to win it all, but they do know some charm would be lost.

As a Vikings fan, I can emphathize with Bills fans. But our woes aren't nearly as that of fans of, say, the New Orleans Saints. At least our teams made it to Super Bowls.

I also have strong feelings for fans of teams that have moved from their area, even if a new team has come along to replace the old one. I mean, think of it this way -- who would people in Baltimore rather root for, a franchise called the Colts or a franchise called the Ravens?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGREED, with another whipping boy in Detroit, we can only see another 2-3 years of losing. Until we get rid of Millen we will always be someone elses bitch

Most Patriots fans now adays are only hopping the bandwagon. Same thing with the Red Sox. And yes before 2004 even as a Yankee fan (sue me) I pitied the former Red Sux. Hockey...you pretty much covered that, and I don't follow basketball so I really don't know if the Celtics are good or not.

yea i'm no bandwagoner i was with the pats sience 92 and they went 2-14 that year  and 3or 4 different starting qb's heck i'm in the northeast so i'm justified to being a fan of all of them

I said most, Maine is part of New England, so people from there are an exception. I'm from New Jersey and before 2002 you know how many Pats fans I knew? None. The moral is: Support your team, whether they're miracle workers or they did what the Giants let Carolina do, that is suffering.

Crap. Can't believe I forgot that. And I call myself a Super Bowl-ologist. :P

But yeah, the point is, I think Baltimore might be happy with what they have now.

But you're missing my point. And I apologize for not being more direct about it.

What I mean is this: Would Baltimore fans prefer to have what they have -- a number of years without a football team (the Colts) before Art Modell moved the Browns there and renamed them the Ravens? Or would they prefer the Colts never moved in the first place? I think that's an obvious answer.

As a Minnesota sports fan, I still resent when the North Stars moved to Dallas to become the Stars. Sure, the Upper Midwest now has the Minnesota Wild, but I would rather have the North Stars.

Ooooohhhh, I getcha now. I understand. Well, actually I don't, I never wish to understand the pain of not having a team for a prolonged period of time. But yeah, I get your point now. Super Bowl or not, that's a helluva long time to be waitin for a team to come.
